Re: [Geotools-devel] How are the XSD bindings created?

2020-04-27 Thread Daniel Singh
I’ve given this a go and it seems to be snowballing into a very large change
(over 1000 files and it’s still not finished). By updating the ows EMF model it
requires some updates to the xlink EMF model which has a knock on to all of the
other models. I’m also finding complications with fairly significant changes
between OGC versions e.g. GML4WCS, vs GML3 which I believe would require some
refactoring of the code

So what I’d like to do is to avoid the large change and do what I can for
GETO-6545 without creating new EMF model elements. This will give us a valid
WMTS capabilities output, but it won’t be comprehensive e.g.
elements won’t support all of xlink:simpleattrs. I’ll still write the unit
tests for those parts that don’t work but mark them to be ignored.

Would that be acceptable?

Thanks, I’ll take a look at the xmlcodegen stuff first. What I might do (no
promises!) is finish off the WMTS stuff and then bump up the unit tests for the
other formats. That way if a move is made to javabeans then at least the unit
tests will be there

Hi,
by past experience, not all Eclipse versions will work to edit an already
generated module... the times I worked
on it, I had to go by trial and error using the dates of generation as a
reference (asking myself, what was the
Eclipse version the developer might have used back then?).

It's a process some of use would like to replace with plain javabeans, but it's
way easier said than done,
lots of code using EMF specific methods and EMF reflection that would need to
be adapted to a pure javabeans approach.
A international code sprint of one week might suffice... or maybe not...

Cheers
Andrea

There is a tutorial in the XML
"internals"
 documentation, that covers generating
bindings.
As described in that tutorial we made use of the Eclipse EMF tools to generate
some of the models, rather than java beans, because it seemed like a good idea
at the time.

Have a look at the tutorial and see what you think.

I’m trying to fix GEOT-6545 so that GeoTools can generate a WMTS
GetCapabilities response.

I’ve got to a point where I can’t find a BasicIdentificationTypeBinding (for
ows: BasicIdentificationType). I could create one fairly easily, but looking
through
geotools\modules\extension\xsd\xsd-ows\src\main\java\org\geotools\ows\bindings,
the files seem to be auto generated, but I can’t see how. I don’t want to mess
up anything else by manually generating something that should be autogenerated.

Any advice on whether I should manually create a BasicIdentificationTypeBinding
or is there a way to autogenerate it?
