Editing those m4a files.

2012-06-03 Thread bat guano

mp3DirectCut-v2.16 now has aac support. :-)
Works with Windows or Linux with WINE.

First need to extract the aac.
Then edit and save with mp3DirectCut.
And mux the aac back into m4a.

AFAIK, David Woodhouse is the only one with sufficient access to
actually turn the key to create a new release (David: let me know
off-list if you want to delegate that minor chore - would require a
permissions change at your end). I've done a test release locally to
check the Windows installer update mechanism, and everything looks
good to go.

Seems like the sanest plan. What permissions are you missing?

My mistake. I was thinking that I lacked the permissions to generate
the release directories, but I'd forgotten that is done via cron on your
server.

OTOH, I suppose I could have used those permissions to undo a minor
problem in v2.81 after it was picked up by the cron job, but it seemed
safer to just bump to 2.82 and allow the existing machinery to work as
normal. Sorry about that, everyone.

get_iplayer 2.82 has been released. The new release contains a number
of bug fixes (in both command-line script and web pvr) and several new
configuration options. Please see the change log and Git log for details.

Change log:

http://www.infradead.org/get_iplayer/CHANGELOG-get_iplayer

Git log:

http://git.infradead.org/get_iplayer.git/log

Download:

ftp://ftp.infradead.org/pub/get_iplayer/get_iplayer-2.82.tar.gz

Windows users:

Employ the get_iplayer installer:

http://www.infradead.org/get_iplayer_win/get_iplayer_setup_latest.exe

There is no need to perform a complete re-installation. The installer
will detect the new release (if you are connected to the internet) and
offer to upgrade only the get_iplayer component.

Linux users:

If you installed get_iplayer 2.80 with your system's package manager,
the new release should eventually appear in your repositories if and
when the package maintainer is able to make an update. The changes in
version 2.82 do not affect any core functionality, so version 2.80 will
continue to serve perfectly well in the interim.

Custom installations:

If you installed get_iplayer 2.80 from a tarball and did not use a
package manager or the Windows installer, you may be able to use
get_iplayer's self-update facility (remember to back up your existing
installation first):

get_iplayer --update

To reiterate: Please *do not* use the self-update facility if you
installed get_iplayer with the Windows installer.

PS: For anyone keeping score, the previous release version of
get_iplayer was 2.80. However, there was no version 2.81. It was
withdrawn due to a packaging error discovered immediately after the
release was posted. Your update path goes directly from 2.80 to 2.82.

Neat, thanks for doing this.

I'll take that as an answer to the

Awesome news! About to download it, here's hoping I can edit
losslessly... I've been so fed up booting into OSX at work just to use
Fission.
