Re: Channel 4 - downloads

Video Downloadhelper seems to respond to C4. I tried downloading the
opening ceremony but oddly it's dropdown list is continually adding
the same title to the list at regular intervals (1 sec or so). A
direct download only saved a small 500KB file with a .f4f extension.
There is a download convert option but I've yet to try it as it
requires 1) a separate download 2) payment for the converter unless
of course you don't mind a logo plastered over your vid.

I've noticed that the latest get_flash_videos is working with fewer and fewer
channel 4 videos as they change from pure rtmp streams to some new method.
e.g. Jimmy's Forest episode 1 will download with get_flash_videos, but episodes
2 and 3 use the new method which is immune to download.

That, along with their new improved 4od app for the iphone/ipad (which stops
you streaming to the HDMI and Apple TV which the old one didn't) means that
channel 4 is getting harder and harder to download new content for again.

Re: Channel 4 - downloads

2012-08-22 Thread Dennis Smith
I've been using FreeStudioManager from here
http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/free-dvd-video-software.htm for a while to
download YouTube video's. I delete the executable to the added
optional extras (Ask Toolbar etc) and it's great for a freebie. I
asked a while back about the ability to download C4/C5 and ITV but
found the only stuff worth watching was on C4 and even it was only
dispatches and a couple of other things and that was it. I found that
C4 uploaded all it's documentaries and similar stuff to YouTube and
haven't looked back but didn't want to make it to popular because C4
might pull all that content, and stop doing it.
