Thank you. For some reason the PVR wont pick it up for me. Yes - CMD

Must admit, I've been caught by this myself on many occasions - the
number 1 and the letter l look pretty similar on BBC pages, which is
why I've given up typing in the PID and do a cut and paste instead.

I'm suspicious of the penultimate characters in those PID's. It
looks like the pipecharacter, but that doesn't work either.

Suggestions?

So... Does anybody know of an alternative USABLE proxy alternative now that
daveproxy.co.uk seems to have died

This will be very important for a lot of non-UK residents!!

Thanks in advance,

sure sure
and I will be first in line to buy use their paid iPad service when it comes
to North America :-)
(and hopefully Canada won't be left out!!!)

I was actually just wondering if anybody knew the URL of a similar Glype proxy
i.e. for which we would have used the following command line:-
get_iplayer --type=tv seven ages of britain --info
--proxy=prepend:http://www.daveproxy.co.uk/browse.php?u=; --streaminfo

but it seems we don't need this Glype/prepend business, we can just use a
plain-jane http proxy
such as you would type into your Internet Explorer LAN Settings/Proxy server
resulting instead in this type of command line:-
get_iplayer --type=tv seven ages of britain --info --proxy=http://ipaddr:port
--partial-proxy --streaminfo

cheers,
m

There are many and various proxy and VPN services, free and paid, that
people can use if they wish to circumvent geoIP restrictions. However if
they value the shows the BBC puts out, and they own an iPad, they should
consider subscribing to the BBC's official iPad iPlayer app when it comes
out (it'll be about $10 a month from what I've read).

A cursory Google reveals a handful of potential results, including

http://docoja.com/blue/

Which is running Glype and is hosted on a UK IP. Sites like xroxy will have
standard HTTP / SOCKS proxy details if you scour them hard enough. :-)

welcome to the game!

docoja.com was the first domino to fall! (beebotron referenced it from wy
back)
like most, if not all, Glype proxies these days, it refuses to return results
for hotlinking - i.e. any automated requests vs manually entering URLs
through their webpage

like I said, xroxy's results can work with get_iplayer with the right syntax!

so we're still in business I guess...

I have been getting this too.. using daveproxy.
But I tried to open the website http://daveproxy.co.uk/
and that doesn't work either.. so I guess this proxy is dead :-(
Luckily, I seem to be able to use get_iplayer without a proxy at the
moment - for TV radio

(I am at IBM UK, which BBC thinks is US due to our IP address range)

Cheers,
Mike
