Re: How do I make GiP re-record a program i've already recorded?
I cannot re-record it. PVR Manager insists that it's *Recording Complete*, and this is despite my deleting the file and removing it from the *PVR List* and subsequently adding it again. Neither *Record* or *Series* works, I just get the *Recording Complete* message again. Click the 'Recording' tab (to the right of 'Advanced Search'), then select the 'On' option beside 'Force Recording' and click 'Apply Settings'. That will force re-recording for the current session. If you wanted to make it permanent, you'd need to click 'Save as Default'. Hi John Done that OK and reinstated *Luther* in PVR list (Record Series) It didn't fix it, I get: === snip _Click_name_tv _Horizon_name_tv _In_Touch_name_tv_radio _Luther_Series_3_name_tv Matches: 560: Luther: Series 3 - Episode 1, BBC One, Audio Described,Crime,Drama,Guidance,Sign Zone,TV,Thriller, default, audiodescribed, signed INFO: 1 Matching Programmes INFO: Checking existence of default version INFO: flashhd1,flashhd2,flashvhigh1,flashvhigh2,flashhigh1,flashhigh2,flashstd1,flashstd2 modes will be tried for version default INFO: Trying flashhd1 mode to record tv: Luther: Series 3 - Episode 1 INFO: File name prefix = Luther_Series_3_-_Episode_1_p01b2b5c_default RTMPDump v2.4 (c) 2010 Andrej Stepanchuk, Howard Chu, The Flvstreamer Team; license: GPL ERROR: Last tag size must be greater/equal zero (prevTagSize=2040433826) and smaller then filesize, corrupt file! You could just rename the partial file so g_ip can't find it and see if that makes the DL run smoothly. If not rename it back to the original name and await a better solution. If a ren'ing does work then delete the corrupt file too. HTH Nick ___ get_iplayer mailing list get_iplayer@lists.infradead.org http://lists.infradead.org/mailman/listinfo/get_iplayer

Question Could I alternatively simply edit out *_Luther_Series_3_name_tv* in C:\Documents and Settings\Shiner/.get_iplayer/pvr_lock ...oir is that not a *Good Idea*? I don't actually have that file here, so I think that's one for dinkypumpkin to answer. (I normally use the command line, not the PVR for recording.) I think that you mean C:\Documents and Settings\Shiner/.get_iplayer/download_history (and it works for individual programmes (particularly when due to timing issues, I get a low quality version of a radio show). Setting 'force' in the PVR options as I described (or using --force on the command line) will override anything in the download_history file. There should never be any need to edit that file. Do you, by any chance, know of a command line to use to reset / purge that download history file from time to time, as a quick browse of the 'long help did not in fact yield anything helpful for me in that respect... I have another way of keeping track of my downloads, so what I now do to clear this file is open it with an editor every, say, two months and delete its contents (when GiP is not running) - OS is WinVista x86. Do you, by any chance, know of a command line to use to reset / purge that download history file from time to time, as a quick browse of the 'long help did not in fact yield anything helpful for me in that respect... As far as I know there is no option to control the size of that file from within get_iplayer. I don't do a lot of downloading here, so it isn't a problem for me. I have another way of keeping track of my downloads, so what I now do to clear this file is open it with an editor every, say, two months and delete its contents (when GiP is not running) - OS is WinVista x86. That sounds sensible. At least it doesn't need to be done frequently. Greetings (and do enjoy the Greek-style weather for as long as it lasts...) It's grey and windy here in the East Midlands today and was drizzling up until lunchtime.
