If there's a network problem, why can I download TV and not radio?

Because you might be getting radio and tv from a different servers,
and one might work and the other not.

earlier you posted a bit of log file:
WARNING: Failed to stream file D:\Downloaded Radio\The Unbelievable
Truth\The Unbelievable Truth Series 13 - Episode 3 -
2014-04-21.partial.m4a.flv via RTMP

and this time you said:

output = v:\BBC iPlayer Recordings

this is inconsistent - do you download to D: or V:? Are both D: and
V:

local or network drives? If network drives, try changing your output
location to a local drive. You can then copy/move files (after all
the processing has been done) to a permanent location using the
command option.

Drive D is an internal 1TB SATA drive. I use it for Radio recordings.
Drive V is an external 3TB USB3 drive. It is used for Video (TV)
programmes.
Both have separate folders for each programme series that is
downloaded via the pvr function, and this setup has worked for months.

No problems with reading or writing to either.

I can successfully download radio programmes that are in MP3 form,
such as those from BBC local radio stations, so my feeling is that
there is a format problem.

guess it was a problem further upstream.

I can concur that all is now as it should be, and as I originally
suspected the problem was at the Beeb.

Thanks to all those who offered assistance. I remain slightly puzzled
why some people did not encounter any problems, but that will remain on

Probably the problem was on one of the BBC's CDN partners and it was the
one your ISP defaulted to. I had a similar problem with War Walks Boyne a
few months ago - every download had a vertical blue line. Others had no
problem. Tried when visiting my mum and all was fine - different ISP and
CDN.

I've tried the 'DOS' CLI option, but get the same problem.

What are your settings, please, Andrew? The problem seems to be
related to modes.

2014-04-22 Thread Andrew Moore

I can play The Unbelievable Truth ok - either by searching for
'unbelievable' on the iPlayer main site (bbc.co.uk/iplayer then search
top right) or by going to the radio site and finding it in the listings
there

Having investigated further, I find that these programmes cannot be played
direct from the iPlayer website, so the fault does seem to be at the
Beeb.

Thanks Andrew, but the problem persists for me.

I can play and record TV okay, but not radio. I normally use Chrome,

The Unbelievable Truth downloads fine here, so there's something up
with your particular installation of get_iplayer and/or your network
connection.

- you are in the UK aren't you?
- what's the result of running get_iplayer --prefs-show in a
