New attempt re: TV cache not updating ...

2017-11-09 Thread RS
For the first attempt attempt at sending this message it bounced because I
had forgotten to select Plain text. On the second attempt I was told it had
a suspicious header. I attempted to correct that on the third attempt but
that attempt just disappeared. For my fourth attempt Ill try sending it as
a new message.

As I have said before, why can't this listserver be made easier to use?

On the
other hand, my browser is windows native while I run get_iplayer under the
cygwin unix emulator, so I may not be comparing apples with apples.

As I said I am not up to speed with Linux so I am not really in a position
to comment. With all the changes that have been happening recently, I would
have thought running under Cygwin was asking for trouble. If your browser
runs under Windows, is there any reason get_iplayer can’t? Running the
Windows installer only takes a few minutes. Even if you are running XP, as
I understand it it is only a question of being careful about the version of
ffmpeg you run. If you can’t do that, what about dual-booting
Windows/Linux?

Best wishes
Richard

Re: TV cache not updating ...

2017-11-09 Thread Jon Crookston
Agreed, Richard, I think we may share the same issue. As I said in my posts
on the subject, I can download using --pid as normal. I did also check last
night that my browser could view the schedule page, which it did. On the
other hand, my browser is windows native while I run get_iplayer under the
cygwin unix emulator, so I may not be comparing apples with apples. I don't
use X windows so no proper browser in cygwin but maybe I could try lynx
when I'm next at the computer.

I don't know whether this could be related, but I was declined a secure
connection to one website yesterday by firefox, which complained about an
out of date certificate, having an expiry date about the same as my last
successful cache update. Could it be a root certificate issue? I know very
little about SSL.

Thanks,
Jon

This is still bugging me. It hasn't updated since 14-Oct-2017

This pertains to v3.06 using the Windows PVR

In the User/get_iplayer forlder I just renamed the tv.cache files to
tvx.cache

Then I re-ran the tv cache refresh. It produced a new tv.cache file of
1KB

Opening with Notepad this had

#index|type|name|pid|available|expires|episode|seriesnum|episodenum|versio
ns|duration|desc|channel|categories|thumbnail|timeadded|guidance|web

If there are a number of you with the same problem, namely cache not
updating, it may help if you try to identify what you have in common.

Have you asked in the forum?

What happens if you try to load a page such as
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/programmes/schedules/this_week
in your browser?

What happens if you try to download a programme by PID?

Best wishes
Richard

TV Cache Not Updating

2017-11-07 Thread CJB
Using the Windows PVR for v3.06 ...

One of the reasons for seeing a list of new programmes added to the
cache after a refresh is that such a list gives reason that the
updating has indeed occurred.

Over the last few weeks I have been assuming that the TV cache has
been updated OK.

BUT when I set Added Since (hours) = 1 whilst I get many Radio
programmes listed, I get none for TV. Adjusting the Added Since
(hours) to say 2000 - OK OTT - I DO get TV programmes listed - BUT
THEY ARE 14 DAYS AGO OR MORE.

This implies to me that the TV cache is not refreshing, and has not for 14 days.

How can I tell if it is please?
