Aleksandar, thank you for actually keeping the discussion alive, because as we all might have noticed: anyone who has ever done development on GIMP user interface seems to be sitting out this thread, probably waiting for this to blow over. well, that will be a whole lot of sitting, because I am sitting too, in strike. if GIMP as a project likes to have interaction design and usability work done for it, then we need to recover the implicit understanding of a couple of years ago, when Sven reached out and recruited me to heal the patient (== GIMP) and endowed his maintainer authority to get it executed in code; when I had working ‘I help you, you help me’ relationships with developers. the outreach, endowment, the relationships, they need to be recovered and this time explicitly, in writing, here on this list, not in gone-tomorrow talk on irc. I will go into Aleksandar’s long analysis and argument another day (busy now), but if we want to recover, then GIMP user interface developers, past and precent, better get involved in this thread. --ps founder + principal interaction architect man + machine interface works http://blog.mmiworks.net: on interaction architecture ___ gimp-developer-list mailing list gimp-developer-list@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-developer-list
[Gimp-developer] GSoC 2013 - Port plug-ins to GEGL ops
Hi everyone, I'm hakzsam on IRC. I'm interested by the project Port plug-ins to GEGL ops for this summer of code 2013. Currently, I'm a student in first year of a master degree in image and sound processing at the university of Bordeaux, France. I already participated at the GSoC the last year on libav, if you want you can take a look at my project here [1]. Otherwise, I already submitted two patches as qualification tasks through bugzilla. The first one [2] is to port the edge neon plug-in to GEGL ops, however, the algorithm is a bit hard to quickly understand and I didn't find any papers related to it but I think it's doable with more time. The second one [3] is to port the noise-spread plug-in to GEGL ops. At the moment, this patch is almost done, I just have to fix a little bug in my code but the algorithm seems to work correctly. I'll continue to study GEGL and I'll prepare my proposal in the next days. Thanks in advance for your possible feedbacks. Re: [Gimp-developer] Featuring GIMP in the AMD Application Showcase
There are a few issues with our listing. First, we're listed twice. Like Alexandre said, the second listing has an incorrect version number. Also, the link is broken on the second entry's learn more button. The first listing seems more accurate, so you may just want to delete the second listing. In any case, thanks for listing us. [Gimp-developer] GEGL operations - GSoC 2013
Hi My name is Carlos Zubieta and I am a CS master student at CIMAT in México. I am mostly specialized on image processing an computer vision. I've been a Gimp user for a while now but I think it's time for me to give the next step and help improve it. I would like to participate in the Gimp plugins to GEGL ops porting. I'm porting the contrast-stretch-hsv and color-enhance plugins before summiting my proposal (as required in the wiki). Jus tI want to be sure if those are enough to apply for the GSoC. Any comments and feedback are welcomed. Best Carlos Z. PS. You can find me as zurwolf in IRC. PS2. [Gimp-developer] Request for Permission to Produce GIMP-Inspired Tees
Hello, I am contacting this mailing list per the instructions on http://www.gimp.org/about/merchandise.html [1]. As instructed, I am contacting you to request permissions and clarify the details for producing GIMP-inspired tee shirts. In doing so, I wish to create promotional wear inspired by both the GIMP name and Wilbur mascot. If this is not permitted, I can and will use the original logos and artwork. The t-shirt(s) are to be featured alongside those of several other F/LOSS projects, totaling 15 or so at this point. More projects are being contacted and our goal is to launch with 50 or so projects. A licensing fee/donation can and will be provided to the GIMP developers, should permission be granted. Our website is at www.libretees.com, and as you can see, there is not much there at the moment. Given permission, I will report back upon site launch. Let me know if you have any questions for me.
