Re: [Gimp-developer] About N-Point Deformation.

2019-12-18 Thread Mario Sottile - Marionetas Mey via gimp-developer-list
I remembered that I made a private video-tutorial for my asistant to
learn how to use that special tool (https://youtu.be/VyV6NDDknJE?t=259,
in spanish).

Another thing: I boot on Debian 10 and installed last version of GIMP
via flatpak (2.10.14). *N-Point Deformation also crashes GIMP (segment
fault)* :'(. Someday, I'll report it with the stack trace.

Marionetas Mey What a pity that it is abandoned :-(...

Thanks for the responses!

I'd like to offer a bounty to get someone to fix it, however, all I can
offer is design work (logos, avatars, wallpapers, 3D stuff) and maybe some
fame in the form of a video of the tool, and who to thank for fixingit in

Any interested parties, just let me know. :) I'll sing your praises all

Thanks to everyone for the hard work on GIMP.

Hi Mario,

I'm sorry to say that, but this tool is more or less abandoned and

Until then, it won't get any better than what you experience.

I tried several (not all) commits of GIMP and tested N-Point Deformation

The other half, it crashes GIMP.

QUESTION: Can I upload GIMP with flatpak to a version previous to the

last

in the commit list? It is from 2018-10-27.

Note: I'm on Debian 9 and the last version I tried (crash) is from
2019-10-30. I also have another partition with Debian 10 with last

version,

but I didn't test this tool there. If the tool crashes or not in actual
version is another issue. If it does, I'll report the bug, but for the
moment, I only need a version where I can use this tool fast and it

doesn't

crash!

[Gimp-developer] Perspective tool suggestion.

2019-09-24 Thread Mario Sottile - Marionetas Mey via gimp-developer-list
I was playing arround with FontForge and click on 3D Transform tool. I
like the way that this tool transform perspective of the draw: by
clicking on it and turn as it was a 3D object.

I check if GIMP Perspective tool does this... but it doesn't. Why not
include an option using Alt to turn layer as it was a 3D object (like
Turntable orbit style in Blender)? It can has an option as level of
perspective.

Re: [Gimp-developer] Edit History/Action History on command line/output file

2019-09-20 Thread Mario Sottile - Marionetas Mey via gimp-developer-list
Some days ago, I was trying to make a python-fu plugin and I really miss
Blender feature that every action you do with the software, you can see
what the python function/methd is for that, in Info panel (where the
main menu is).

I just moved the default cube and deleted it. Blender info shows:

There, you can select and copy text.

It would be very nice if GIMP could do that. And with some more code,
you could export this to make a log text file or, better than that, a
new plugin, isn't it?

about what the performed action was, which is what I need.
An example of what I'm looking for: When a user tries to use paint brush on

Thanks again, and sorry for sending it out to everyone, I couldn't find a

[Gimp-developer] Beggining of a text

2019-08-21 Thread Mario Sottile - Marionetas Mey via gimp-developer-list
When I click in image using Text tool, the text properties (font, size,
etc) are defined in panel (eg: Arial 32).

But when I click in an (already created) text layer, even all the text
is in Verdana 16, if I click in the beggining of the text, when I start
typing, it writes in Arial 32 (as in panel).

Like this ("World" is in Verdana 16, "Pepe" in Arial 32):

Why this happens? If I have a text in Verdana 16 and want to write at
the beggining, I suppose to write in the same font, size, etc.

Is a design choice?

[Gimp-developer] Bug?

2019-08-18 Thread Mario Sottile - Marionetas Mey via gimp-developer-list
I have the same layer. One with alpha blocked and the other with alpha
transferred to mask. I paint both with a very soft white airbrush in
bottom-right corner. In this image, we can see that there is a soft
white peculiar stripe vertically and horizontally:

When I disable mask in one layer and transfer alpha to mask in the other
(and disable that mask), I realize that the soft airbrush painted a lot
outside the permitted zone. That is where alpha is close to 0.

The same with any color.

Is this a bug?

[Gimp-developer] 2 ideas/suggestions and 1 bug?

2019-08-14 Thread Mario Sottile - Marionetas Mey via gimp-developer-list

   Export-Wait to Enter key

I don't know how to name this suggestion... I have a non-super-fast
computer. When I export an image, I enter its name and press Enter...
twice. Because I want to accept the name and the default export options
(JPG, PNG). But... there is a little delay between GIMP receives the
first Enter and when showing Export options window. In that time, Enter
key is lost. But that is not the most important, when Export window is
shown, I press Enter key and nothing happens. It's like another window
(maybe Export file window) is on focus. So, I have to press Alt-Tab (or
click with mouse) and then press Enter.

This happen if I press Ctrl-N and Enter inmediatly.

I don't know if this is a window manager issue or GIMP itself. My GIMP
version and system:

- GIMP 2.10.12 (flatpak)
- Debian GNU/Linux 9.9 (stretch)
- MATE Desktop Environment 1.16.2.

The idea is that GIMP catches that second Enter key and uses it for the
next window.

   Text tool

When I press T key, Text tool is selected. In this mode, I can only
click on text layer to edit it. If I press arrow keys (left, right, up,
down) nothing happens: layer is not moved neither text cursor (because
it is not in edit mode). So, why can't enter in edit mode inmediattly
when I press T?

Inkscape, as have Move tool in F1 key, text mode is always in edit mode.

The only thing I can come up with is that, if I want to go back to Move
tool by pressing V key, I couldn't do it, because it's on edit mode ("V"
letter would be typed). As an idea, maybe this would be the only
situation that, when pressing ESC key, text layer works as layer object
and we can change to another tool. If we press T key again, it enters in
edit mode again. I explain myself?
