[Gimp-user] select tool moving but not cutting

2002-01-18 Thread Deryk Robosson

Does anyone know if it is possible to enable a selection of w*h size but
have it moveable (the rectangle) instead of an implicit cut/move?

I have the need to provide (from a script) a selection box of w*h size
to a user that will move the selection rectangle to cover the best area
of a picture without setting the select boundry with an implicit
cut/move operation. In other words, I want the user to just be able to
move the rectangle itself but not affect the image until a second script
is ran on the selection which at that stage, a cut/move/copy etc plus
other operations can be performed. Is this at all possible on the
version used or greater?

Gimp version used is 1.2.2.

Please cc me replies as I am not subscribed to the list. Cheers.

FW: [Gimp-user] clone tool no entry ANSWER

2002-01-18 Thread Minson, John M. [Contractor]

Many thanks to Jeff T. for his answer.

Hi John -

It's possible that you're just not interpreting the cursor
correctly. To use the clone tool you need to

(a) select it from the toolbar

(b) On the image, move the cursor over the area you wish to
clone FROM.

(c) Ctl-left-click to set the source of the clone

(d) Move your cursor to the area you wish to clone to, and draw
using the left mouse button.

You will be using the current brush, btw.

[Gimp-user] clone tool no entry

2002-01-18 Thread Minson, John M. [Contractor]

Last November there were some posts about the clone tool not allowing an
entry to be made (the international not sign displayed next to the clone
tool icon).
There seem to be no clear explanation as to why this situation is
encountered ( I'm a novice).
So far I've been unable to find any image to which I can make changes using
the clone tool.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
