It makes Gimp display in pixels or in real units. Maybe a visual
example will help you. Compare dot for dot on and off for an image of
512 * 512 pixels with DPI 72 * 144. One will look like a square, the
other as a rectangle.

[Gimp-user] Updating text doesn't trigger

2004-01-27 Thread Eric Pierce
Hmmm...

Updating pre-existing text in an image with a text layer doesn't trigger
Gimp that any changes have occurred (ie., you can close the image and Gimp
won't throw up the 'Changes were made to 'image'. Close anyway?' dialog -
hence you lose your changes).

I'm currently using Pre2 for Windows. I'll check it at home on my Linux
box after work.

Can someone confirm/deny this anomoly before I file a bug report?

Re: [Gimp-user] GIMP on Mac OS X

 Hi,

I'm picking up on an older thread here since there's some good news on
the MacOS X subject that should be shared. Since this topic was
brought up last, Yosh added a POSIX shared memory implementation that
is used on Darwin. Recently GIMP-2.0pre packages appeared for fink
(http://mirror.student.iastate.edu/) and today I've been told that
GIMP-2.0pre2 has found its way into darwinports
 (http://darwinports.opendarwin.org/).

What I heard so far these packages work flawlessly and this means that
we can say that MacOS X is a fully supported platform for GIMP-2.0.
Thanks to everyone who helped to make this happen.

Great news! Some people approached me when I did the FOSDEM GIMP talk on
OSX and were very interested in running GIMP on their MacOS. I hope
GIMP2 will make a big splash among MacOS users.

cheers

[Gimp-user] GUADEC logo invitation

2004-01-27 Thread David Neary
Hey there,

The fifth annual GNOME conference, GUADEC [GNOME Users and
Developers European Conference], will be held in Kristiansand
28-30.June, 2004.

We need a logo for the event.

Ideally we are looking for a logo including the GNOME footage
with a local Norwegian touch. If you are interested in helping out
please send your proposal to [EMAIL PROTECTED] as soon as
possible.

The logo will be used for promotion, on website, t-shirts etc..
Since the logo will be used on material of many different sizes,
proposals should be in a vector format if possible. All proposals
will be on display on the website of the conference.

Many thanks,
The GVADEC V Team

You can check out some more information on the GUADEC website at

[Gimp-user] Two instances of TIF in save menu

2004-01-27 Thread misfit-x
Version: Gimp-2.0pre2-1 (rpm build)

If you go to save an image and choose a file format in the drop down
box, there appears to be two instances of Tiff.
