Re: [Gimp-user] adjusting line types

2001-06-06 Thread Jeff Trefftzs

Hi Lisa -

It sounds like you're running into the difference between a
vector graphics
and a bitmap operation. Postscript defines vectors, and thus
can scale nicely,
while the Gimp works on bitmaps. Which means that information
like line type
(e.g., dashed, dotted, etc.) isn't available to the Gimp.

Perhaps you should try importing the postscript into something
like Sketch,
or another of the free vector editors. Maybe even xfig? I
haven't tried this,
and it may or may not work.

[Gimp-user] adjusting line types

2001-06-06 Thread Stanley

Hi,

First of all, I am new to using GIMP. But I have used similar
software in the past. I am editing a postscript file. I have
some lines and curves in color for which I need to adjust the line type.
(ie. dash-dotted, dotted, dashed, solid, that kind of thing) But I can't
seem to figure out how to do this. I can select a certain color
without any trouble. (and that is what I need to do...adjust different
colors of the same line type to all in black color with different
line types)

I can fill the lines with patterns, etc. But I just want to do
this very simple taskwhich seems to be difficult???

Thanks,
Lisa
