[Gimp-user] PNG and transparency
Hi all, what determines if pressing the wipe-out button or pressing CTRL-x extinguishes to either the background color or to transparency? I thought the type of file would. But some png-files I opened behaved so that CTRL-x of a selected area makes the deleted stuff transparent (which I want), while with others all I can reach is substituting the selected area by the background color. How can I force those files to delete to transparency? Regards, Johannes ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.xcf.berkeley.edu http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user

Next you must make sure that the background layer has an alpha channel, if it hasn't you can add one with the menu item Layer/Transparency/Add alpha channel. /pippin -- Software patents hinder progress | http://swpat.ffii.org/ Web : http://pippin.gimp.org/ ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.xcf.berkeley.edu http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
[Gimp-user] GIMP 2.0.6 - With or Without Decorations
Folks, I'm running The GIMP 2.0.6 on Debian, and I used to take screenshots Without Decorations (on The GIMP 1.1.x, 1.2.x, etc) all the time. That option does not seem to be available on The GIMP 2.0.x. The GIMP doc that I've glanced at doesn't have a section on screenshots or captures (not at least one I've found). I'd appreciate some help. Thanks, Mike ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.xcf.berkeley.edu http://lists.xcf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
