[Gimp-user] Dodge/Burn -- any reason why range is not a checkbox?

Is there any reason the dodge/burn tool does not implement the range option as
a multi-choice instead of a single-choice?  I run into cases when I would like 
to burn shadows and midtones, and it's difficult to get it right if you have to 
perform two operations.

No easy way, although someone my have a script to save individual layers
to separate files, and you could then probably use imagemagick to
recombine them. Imagemagick (or the fork, graphicsmagick) is often
included with Linux distributions such as ubuntu or rosa.
