You could try either Hue (since the mortar is greener than everything else), Saturation (since the brick color isn't saturated but the mortar is) or Green. Don't forget that Select by Color lets you drag to adjust how much is selected: up/left to select less, down/right to select more. It looks to me like with that image, Green isn't working at all but Hue and Saturation both work a lot better than the default of Composite. You'll still need to clean up your selection after making it, either by copying it to a layer mask or by editing it in the quickmask. Use Levels to threshold it (Threshold handles only black and white so you get hard edges; adjusting the middle slider in Levels usually gives a better result, with gradual edges). You might also want to use Dilate, Erode and Blur, and maybe paint over a few areas that didn't work out quite right. [Gimp-user] Neon Effect
When I apply the Neon Filter, it makes the borders of my selection go outside the original borders making the image larger than the original. Is there a way to apply this filter and keep the size of the image exactly the same? [Gimp-user] Help with color of several shades
Hi everyone. I'm not new to Gimp, but I'm also not an advanced user of it. Recently we've started a portfolio of our product at work (we make block/bricks) and needed a way to display our product. I suggested a small wall platform and we could stack the bricks on the platform making a small wall and take a picture with wood in between as the mortar joint. So, since these are designer bricks, the mortar joints between range in shades from almost black to white, and colors from dark brown to red to a buff (almost yellow). So, since we make about 20 different color brick blends, and there is probably an equal amount of mortar colors the contractors use, I suggested painting the wood edges to a bright green because we make no blend that contains green, sowe can use a single photo of one brick wall, and change the color of the green mortar joint to whatever. 1 photo of each wall blend, edit 20 different mortar colors. Sounds like a simple idea right? It there anyway to change the shade of one color spectrum to another without having to zoom in and painstakingly draw over it? Meaning all instances of said green (shadowed and gradients) to another color without effecting the rest of the image in gimp? [Gimp-user] Perspective Changed my Brushes?
Help? I used the Perspective Tool on a layer in a document I was working on and it appears to have changed all my brushes with Perspective too... How do I undo that? I already closed that doc, restarted GIMP and launched a whole new document and the brushes are still squashed. -- CaptainLucky (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] How can I make GIMP Printouts as good as those from Windows Photo Gallery
I have noticed that printed images which I have drawn in The GIMP's RGB Color Space, or even a jpg exported version, don't have the quality that printing the jpg version with Windows Photo Gallery produces. The problem with Photo Gallery is that it shrinks the size of the printed image and, for me, sizing is crucial. I have already painstakingly sized the images in GIMP & don't want to do it all over again so, the best solution for me is to emulate the print quality of Photo Gallery. I have done alot of research & experimentation to try & get GIMP to print like Photo Gallery but, to no avail. I understand that in Windows VISTA, Photo Gallery uses the Windows Color Management System (WCMS) to print images whereas other programs, like Microsoft Paint, do not use the WCMS for printing. I have configured GIMP's Color Management Profiles as follows: Mode of Operation = Color Managed Display &/or“Print Simulation” Monitor Profile = For my AOC 2060W Monitor this is 2060W.icm with the “Try to use the system monitor profile” checkbox checked. RGB Profile = sRGB Color Space Profile.icm (Displays as IEC 61966-2.1 Default RGB colour space – sRGB) CMYK Profile = None Print Simulation Profile = RSWOP.icm (Displays as Agfa : Swop Standard) Other relative specifics: Operating System = Windows VISTA SP 2 GIMP Version = 2.8.16 Is there anyway to make GIMP print like Photo Gallery? Any help would be appreciated & thanks. -- Falcon459 (via www.gimpusers.com/forums) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list

Thanks so much for your help! ___ You don't need Gimp for this, "tiling" the image is usually an option for wallpaper settings. Otherwise: - Open you image in Gimp - File>New and create an image the size of your screen - In the Diamond Image: "Select>All" and "Edit>Copy" - Back to the new Image - Select the "Bucket FIll" tool - Go to the Tool options dialog (normally visible, otherwise Windows>Dockable dialogs>Tool options) - Select "File type>Pattern fill" - Click on the pattern icon right next to it - Select the first pattern in your list (it should be called "Clipboard") - Click on your wallpaper image - File>Export the image ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
