I started using the GIMP when Tor Lillqvist's first Windows ports appeared, and have used it on Microsoft platforms ever since. These days I don't use any Microsoft products - they finally became completely obsolete in every context that matters to me - but I do know several people who use the GIMP on Windows 7 and 10. Considering the huge Microsoft user base, I would be surprised if GIMP users on Microsoft platforms don't outnumber users on Linux platforms by a substantial margin - but as per messages above, that's very hard to determine. We have a large majority of Linux users posting on the list here, but that is most likely due to the strong connection between Linux and technical education / computer literacy. "Geeks" use mailing lists like this one, most others don't suspect they exist. :o) ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list

I've got access to a copy of Photoshop, but I barely know how to use it except for recreating the layer groups, so using it for doing the mockups is not an option. My idea for a workaround is to not use layer groups in Gimp and just have all the elements in layers without any hierarchy, then export to PSD, then in Photoshop open the file and create layer groups and reorganize the elements as I normally would in Gimp. This solution takes more time and is less organized during the creation of the mockups in Gimp since I'll have no layer groups, but it is not the end of the world, and maybe the only workable solution. I'd love to know how others work through this type of issue. Anyone have any suggestions? If you are just using groups to keep related things together and not for specific compositing order, a possible solution is to use a script in Gimp to un-group everything before exporting. ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
