Really not a Gimp problem. You can probably use the Google API:

https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/map-geolocation#try-it-yourself

Using some JavaScript that does:

Can photo coordinates -> Can photo GPS data -> Google API -> Map
picture

There can be an associated fee, but at least you would be officially
allowed to use the pictures.

Or you can use OpenStreetMap:

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/API_v0.6#Retrieving_map_data_by_bounding_box:_GET_.2Fapi.2F0.6.2Fmap

I am familiar with the windows snipping tool, and have the user using this as an
alternative until I can figure out how/if the F1 key shortcut can be enabled
with GIMP and Win 10.

Thanks to both of you for the replies.

GIMP icon in the taskbar.
By "whatever captured" I am referring to the use of the selection tool. Once a
selection is made, everything within the selection is captured, and the GIMP
options become available to edit, save as specific file type, etc.

[Gimp-user] Help! Gimp file will not open

2017-02-13 Thread aesrizzle
I have been working on a painting for weeks, and suddenly the file wont open. My
painting currently consists of 5 layers. in the "open" dialog, it shows a
preview of my painting as it should, and it correctly states the number of
layers and pixels. But when i click on it to open it, it shows a blank
transparent page, and says that there are no layers to it, as if my painting
cannot materialize. all my other xcf files open fine without problem. this one
takes longer and then tells me my painting doesnt exist. this hasn't happened
until today. please help i am very frustrated as this painting means a lot to me
, i have had gimp for years but i am brand new to this community please and
thank you

2017-02-13 Thread imaginniko
Hi.

I installed the latest windows version of Gimp but encountered errors as
attached

web-page.exe
The procedure entry point _Zdllpvy could not be located in the dynamic link
library c:\program files\gimp 2\bin\libwebkitgtk-1.0-0.dll

.. in libjavascriptcoregtk-1.0-0.dll
... in libpoppler-glib-8.dll
... in libpoppler-glib-56.dll

Any ideas how do solve these? Tried PC restarted, java versions updated,
uninstalled and reinstalled, spybot S scanned n cleaned. I used to havec
gimp 2.8.18 with no such issues.

Thanks.!!

Hello, All! Thanks to Ofnuts and others I have learned how to add a text
layer on top of a gif image. Interleave Layers is a great plug-in. I have
taken it a step further and using Merge Layers I now add Drop Shadow to the
text. It works very well but I notice one flaw: the text and drop shadow
flicker at what I think is the same rate as the gif. It seems that they
flicker whenever the gif starts over again. Any ideas on how to stop the
flicker? Is it possible? My thanks in advance!

You must have a layer left over which isn't really part of the animation
('Background' or else). When you export a GIF animation, all layers are
included, even those that are not visible.
