It was my bad for posting that last night. It was after 12 beers. How do I get you Gimp fanboys to stop emailing now? I unsubscribed from the list but I'm still receiving emails. Please leave me a lone. I have enough problems without you all. On Friday, June 28, 2019, 03:11:02 PM MST, Pat David wrote: Hm. Looks like it did exactly what you asked it to do. [Gimp-user] Documentation in Portuguese (BR)
I am a simple user, not a professional. I have always looked for non-MS software to use what I do. Therefore, I use and disclose free software. I would like to leave a suggestion if anyone is interested: - Develop material in Portuguese (particularly Brazil), because the number of potential users is enormous. This would greatly facilitate our learning process. Thank you very much. Re: [Gimp-user] Size photo so it will consistently print at a specific size
OK. Simple solution is a two-step process: • Crop to the aspect ratio you want. • Scale the photo to the size to fit the frame at 300 dpi. 1. Your imported photos are 6 x 4 ratio (6000 x 4000). 2. You need to CROP your photos to 8 x 10 ratio (Or 7.5 x 11.5 or 8.5 x 10, or whatever frame size you want to fit them into.) 3. Open the cropping tool. A dialog will open that has a check box: "Fixed" and at the far RH end of that line "Aspect Ratio". Check both. 4. Below that is a blank line where you enter the Aspect Ration you want. Say, 10:8 for a landscape photo. Anything you crop now will be of the right proportion (not size) to fit an 8" X 10" frame. 5. Crop the photo. Now Scale the photo to the desired size by changing one dimension only. The proportion will always be the same. 1. Go to Image > Scale Image. 2. Make sure the chain link symbol is joined 3. Choose "in" for inches, then enter one of the finished dimensions, say 10, in the appropriate box. 4. Click Scale. Replay: Crop to the correct proportions, THEN make it the actual size. My friend and I are avid, rabid photographers. ;-) He is -far- more advanced than I in using GIMP (GIMP 2.10.10 ~~ on Windows 10 machines) to edit photos while I'm just learning. But independently we have a "problem" we can't seem to resolve -- so I am VERY MUCH hoping You have the answer! We want to size / save an edited photo so it specifically will fit (without any further editing, cropping, or other manipulations) a frame size -- ie, so we can save it as what would print as an 8-1/2 x 10 ...or as a 7-1/2 x 11-1/2 inch size. Now, I'll copy his explanation -- and hope Hope HOPE you can please help us??? [Gimp-user] from the shadows . . .
greetings, everybody. one of the things i've long hoped for, that photoshop has had and gimp hadn't but now does in 2.10.x, is the highlight/shadow controls. but i'm a bit puzzled by one aspect, and i'm hoping someone here can help me sort what i'm getting wrong. when i use the shadow control to bring detail out of the muck, past a certain point it also adds blotchiness to areas such as the sky. should i try to generally select the areas i want to de-shadow, or is there some other control or setting that will help with this? the three sliders at the bottom of the control, white point, radius, and compress, are not particularly intuitive to me, but i'm guessing some relief might be found there. i suppose i could experiment, but i thought if the answer is known and simple i needn't try to discover it. thanks in advance. -- dep Some pictures: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/depscribe/album ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
