Also, there seems to be a dialog box above the canvas, and the the tool options
below. The box above the canvas (with Arial Heavy) seems to be controlling the
text, but the tool options box (calabri bold) below has the anti-alias checkbox,
why are there two? And how can I apply anti-alias to the text, if the above one
is controlling the edit? see attached image

When I try to edit a .xcf file (of text words), and select the correct layer,
then select the Text tool, a box pops-up stating "Confirm Text Editing". When I
select 'edit' that text layer enlarges automatically beyond the canvas area.
Very annoying. Anyway to edit without that happening? I don't know how to easily
edit at that point. What's going on there?
Any help is appreciated

[Gimp-user] Text as watermark looks unsharp

2019-05-18 Thread chrisj
The text I've created in GIMP, with transparent background, (222 x 32) added as
a watermark.png to a web video php script, displays ok on the uploaded video,
overlayed as a watermark, on the smaller screen (textScreen1.png - attached
example), but still not really sharp looking, and definitely unsharp/jagged when
full screen is selected (textScreen2.png -attached example).

How can this be improved?

I look forward to any assistance.

[Gimp-user] Why is lettering not clearer

2017-11-09 Thread chrisj
Thanks for your replies.
I'm trying to make the text, in the layer in question, clearer, but when I pull
up the .xcf and select the text layer, the horizontal dialog box pops up, and I
don't see how to apply anti-alias with this box. But, I also pulled up the
"Tools Options" (see attached image), and I see where to uncheck anti-alias, but
I don't see how that effects the selected layer, because it seems the horizontal
dialog box dominates here.

Also, it was mentioned about dpi, how/where can I improve dpi with gimp?

Lastly, upon exporting the image, there seems to several choices (see attached
image) what would be best?

I look forward to your reply
Much thanks

[Gimp-user] Help with enhancing a profile picture

2017-08-17 Thread chrisj
I morphed a face image with another one, to get a unique face, because I didn't
want my actual face to be the profile picture on the social website page.

But it doesn't look as clear as other pictures on the site.

Would anyone like to see if they can improve it for me?

In the world of tagging faces, I really don't want to attach it here for
eternity.

Can I discuss this with someone in a PM?

Thanks

[Gimp-user] Why is lettering not clearer?

2017-08-07 Thread chrisj
Hi,

I created a logo and uploaded to a web page, as you can see by the attached
image "HIRED", the lettering/text doesn't look clear. It is Arial 11 on a
transparent background.
Gimp 2.8

The link to the home page "Home" is attached. it is not part of the logo, but
looks much clearer on the web page.

Is there something I can do to help make the logo text sharper/clearer?

Any help will be appreciated.
