[Gimp-user] How to scan scan under Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.5

2016-08-31 Thread Zbig
Hi,
I have Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 and would like to scan into GIMP.

I installed the Samsung M2070 scanner/printer and I have the following folder
contents:

1.Library- Application Support - Samsung- TWAIN Discovery - Samsung M2070 Series
- Scanner auswaehlen
2.Library - Image Capture - Devices - Samsung Scanner
3.Library - Twain Data Sources - SamsungM2070 Series.ds

After the new installation of GIMP 2.8.18 no menu create - from Scanner can be
found.

Could you understand why?

The printer and scanner work without problems.

Best regards Zbig

Yes, the printer and scanner work.

Maybe there is a problem with OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 which is not yet
supported?

The exact folder contents is:

1.Library- Application Support - Samsung- TWAIN Discovery - Samsung M2070 Series
- Scanner auswaehlen
2.Library - Image Capture - Devices - Samsung Scanner
3.Library - Twain Data Sources - SamsungM2070 Series.ds

found.

Best regards
Zbigniew

Hi Geoff,
I have been trying your filter on some scanned negatives and the results look
very promising (partly I need to refine my scanning set-up)

Two comments though.

Firstly when trying to run the script it fails as it can't find the debug folder
that you have on your system - I have created a temporary folder on my (Windows
7) PC and edited the script to use this - but it might be better if debug was
disabled by default so the average user didn't have to bother about this. (A
similar situation applies to the folder for saving the options if this is
selected).

Secondly, and this is just a personal preference, I have moved the filter so
that it appears in "Filters/Enhance/" as Restore3, rather than adding an entry
to the menu bar.

Thanks for the script.
