Re: [DISCUSS] Giraph Graduation (was Re: Giraph status (Was: [Incubator Wiki] Update of "April2012" by OwenOmalley))
It's been a week and we definitely have consensus towards graduation. Let's get started on the vote and other tasks. I'd recommend nominating Avery for the first chair; he's been the main driver and tireless in handling user questions. I'd also recommend rotating the chair once a year to make sure there's a wide field of experience. Do we need the resolution before starting the vote? No worries, Jake. At Apache, merit doesn't expire, and you've earned it! We all have $dayjobs, and real life issues to deal with, so no worries, and glad to have you on board! Should I start a vote on the dev list? +1 on this line of thinking too. How about we: 1. have a [DISCUSS] thread, wait ~48-72 hours, let it settle, if all well; then 2. have a [VOTE] thread on giraph-dev, wait ~48-72 hours, let it settle, if all well; then 3. have a [VOTE] on general@, pasting the discussion thus far, and tallying the VOTEs During this time, we'll need to: a. Draft a resolution for Giraph's graduation. b. Nominate a chair. If there are no objections, I nominate either Avery, or Jakob. Both have really stepped it up along the way and would make a fine chair.
