Textadept (https://foicica.com/textadept/) has this feature and I believe it uses Scintilla. I am not a programmer, so I have no idea how search Textadepts's code and adapt the feature to Geany. But maybe someone with the skills can give it a try. I often use macros in geany, and I need to do everything with the keyboard (moving the cursor etc). Sometimes it's impossible to do what I want.
