No MerriLUG tonight, hunh?
Stopped by Martha's tonight in hopes of finding a LUG there (since 16 April is listed on the wiki), but no dice. No big loss, I guess--since I live down the street and the steak is delicious in any case, but -- Don't be afraid to ask (Lf.((Lx.xx) (Lr.f(rr. ___ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss/

Mm--joining gnhlug-org and going back through the archives to January, I see that. Bummer--I never joined-up when they were still in session. :\ Anyone is welcome to pick up the ball and run with it. OK. I'll guess I should mail the -org list for a description of org-duties? I sort-of feel at a loss for LUG-organisational skills, having... never even attended a LUG meeting before Anyone in the area feel like reviving MerriLUG meetings, getting together for beer and software at some point? Or coffee, if nobody's drinking beer anymore? I'll give a seed-topic: I have an OpenMoko FreeRunner to show off, along with some neat new FOSS projects (involving the phone, as well as other platforms); we can do show-and-tell :) -- Don't be afraid to ask (Lf.((Lx.xx) (Lr.f(rr. ___ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss/

All a coordinator has to do is coordinate things. All that really means is: * Make a list of things that need to happen * Make sure they happen If you can find volunteers to delegate everything to, you don't actually have to *do* anything. Typical things that have to happen are: * Come up with event ideas * Schedule a venue * Publicize the event (post to gnhlug-announce and on www.gnhlug.org; maybe community calendars and such too) * Herd cats at the actual event (e.g., make sure things get underway and people like me shut-up when they should) Event ideas for GNHLUG has often revolved around finding speakers, but it doesn't have to be that way. Let's all get together and see if we can figure out $WHATEVER can work, too. It doesn't have to be a formal presentation. Not at all. LUGs are groups of users. Getting together in a group to work on using stuff should count.
