DECtalk Express How-To?

2006-07-28 Thread Joanmarie Diggs
Hi all. I have a DECtalk Express and would like to get it working --
ultimately with Orca, but for now I'll settle for just working. smile
Could someone please point me to the appropriate how-to?

Thanks much in advance!

The only way to make an express work with orca is by using the emacs
speak servers which you can choose from the servers selection in the
orca configuration UI. I don't have an express myself but I know other
orca users have made this work.

I think your best option would be to install Emacspeak first, then when you
run orca --setup, select Emacspeak speech server and dtk-exp as your speech
server.

Depending on how your distribution handles Emacspeak, you may need to set an
additional environment variable to specify the port to which the synthesizer
is attached.
