I would give you approval 1 or from 18n when you delay the release for
at least one week to give translators a chance to update the package.

Well, one week is after the 2.30.2 release date, the tarballs are due
on June 21 :/

String freeze break request for Vinagre 2.30

2010-06-16 Thread Jonh Wendell
Hello, guys.

I just committed (into master) a fix a bug in vinagre which doesn't allow you
to use a different port than 22 when doing SSH tunneling[1].

The fix adds two new strings, explaining to the user how to supply a different
port:

string 1: Supply an alternative port using colon
string 2: For instance: j...@domain.com:5022

So, I'd really like to backport this commit to 2.30 branch and do a 2.30.2
release today or tomorrow.

Pardon me, I'm doing hundreds of things at the same time... I didn't
realize 2.30.2 is planned to 21 Jun, I thought I was late :)

So, translators would have until 21 Jun to translate these 2 new
strings...

Cheers,

I know you already have 2/2, but I think these strings could be improved.
What about this:

  - Supply an alternative port by specifying a colon and the port
  - Example: j...@example.org:2022

I think these strings would be a) grammatically correct and b) more
instructive, and c) the example doesn't ‘abuse’ domain.com either.

String freeze break request for Vinagre

2009-02-18 Thread Jonh Wendell
Vinagre has the ability to connect into a machine which requires an
username, besides the password. This feature was added some time ago.

Today I realised the dialog that asks that information wasn't well
secure against deep users, who could send an empty string as the
password.

So, I gave some love to that dialogue, and, as a result there are 5 new
strings:

ismallAll fields above are mandatory/small/i
This is in glade file, tells the user that [s]he must fill all fields.

Authentication error
An username is required in order to access this machine.
A password is required in order to access this machine.
These three above are messages displayed in an error dialogue.

_Authenticate
This is the new label for the button in the authentication dialogue (it
was just OK).

Thanks,

I'd say you should add a final stop to the sentence: ... are mandatory.

Agreed.

 _Authenticate

Why not use _Login here instead of _Authenticate. We use login
everywhere else in Gnome...

Otherwise: i18n approval 1/2.

As a verb (which is what a button label ought to be), it
should be two words: Log In. (Both capitalized because
we use header capitalization on button labels.)
