Right now we have to copy the lines we want to review.
Sometimes it's not easy because of the two colum view. Holding down the 
Ctrl key while selecting is a very useful trick to select only the 
content of the second column (last translation). Thanks to @afranke

Ah, Ok. But I think translators may update their 40 branch translation

The conclusion was: "Translating release notes as part of the UI 
translations is too much a burden for GNOME translators for a small 
benefit. It may not be the last word on the subject, but that could be 
discussed on the gnome-i18n list first."


I think the burden might be mitigated with some good practices:

1. App authors should write concise release notes.
2. Limit the release extraction to the latest x (2?) releases. How? 
Move the old release notes to the NEWS file and then regenerate the 
appdata file specifying how many release notes should be copied. Both 
appstreamcli and appstream-util have this feature IIRC.

GNOME apps have 2 releases per year. Each release may contain say 5 to 
15 strings (?). See for example:

10 to 30 short strings per app per year shouldn't be too cumbersome for 
translators.

I'm updating the mainline branch (as I don't see gnome-3-38 yet).

I'm having hard times understanding the strings added in this commit:

   composer: Use ReflowBox widget for toolbar

   This new widget replaces the size-allocate hack introduced a few 
commits ago.



The strings are: "Spacing between children", "Spacing between rows of 
children".
Doesn't sound like something for users so I wonder if these are really 
meant to be translated... If answer is yes, then a note for translators 
would help.

Mike, two more comments about the user manual:

1. "... using the accounts editor. To open it, click Geary’s 
application menu button in the main window above the folder list ..."
It's not really above the folder list (there's the new message icon 
there), but above the conversation list. Unless it's changed.. I 
haven't built mainline for a while...
I'd rather say that it's in the top/main header bar or toolbar, or 
whatever is called in english.



2. "Staring a message will mark the whole conversation as starred"

s/staring/starring/

Unless you are a jedi :-)

I'm working on it.

There's a string "duplication" as you used two similar expressions:

Un-mark/mark read
Mark/un-mark read

I think only one would appear in the po file if you used the same 
"Mark/un-mark read"?
