I can extend this window for next week, yes. Boatswain is in string freeze
until then,
modulo wrong strings that need adjusting.

Boatswain is not in code freeze though, bugfixes will still come in until
the release day.

Boatswain release & short term roadmap

Hi i18n,

Now that Boatswain is translatable through l10n.gnome.org, I
plan on doing a release this weekend. The more translations
reach the app before that, the better.

Of course there'll be more releases in the future, but I wanted
to have a nice set of translations for Boatswain's debut.

String Freeze break request for GNOME Settings (Keyboard panel)

a contributor recently found a string in the GNOME Settings' Keyboard panel
that needs plural form, but is not translated as such:
GNOME/gnome-control-center!960


This is a small change, but I believe having this string correctly marked

Re: Freeze Break for gnome-control-center to include USB protection

As a maintainer, I agree with the patch and the freeze break. This
is an important improvement on the privacy front, and the actual
functionality already landed in gnome-settings-daemon. This patch
is limited to the UI side of it.

Also, it was my fault for not responding to this merge request in a
timely manner, so I wish this can be compensated before the 3.36
release.

At last, I suggest we should coordinate and prepare a blog post about
it, and loop the Engagement Team in to spread the word about it.

Users can use dconf-editor to rename folders, but that would make for
a terrible user experience. Renaming folders is critical to managing app
folders from GNOME Shell.

The new string is a verb, "Rename". It is displayed at the rename folder
popover, introduced by that merge request. Since it's a critical part of the
merge request, not approving this break would prevent that merge request
from being merged.

GNOME To Do and Calendar release delays

Greetings Release Team,

It is with grief that I hereby come to communicate about a decision about
delaying the stable release of GNOME To Do and, possibly, GNOME Calendar
too.

*Rationale*

GNOME To Do received many improvements during this cycle, but a big rework
on the backend is not in a good shape yet. I consider this a blocker for
the release, for it provides a really bad experience for the users,
including data loss. It is not acceptable to release a stable release in
the current state.

GNOME Calendar, on the other hand, is in a much better state right now, but
a few annoying bugs need to be fixed. These bugs are not blockers, but they
significantly impact the end user experience. It is acceptable, but not
ideal, to release it in the current state.


*Freeze Breaks*

GNOME To Do will respect the UI freeze, but new translatable strings will
be added. New APIs will be added for plugins, but this will have low impact
since there are no out-of-tree plugins I'm aware of.

GNOME Calendar will respect the UI Freeze, the String Freeze and the API
Freeze, but not the Hard Code freeze.


*Expected Delay*

GNOME To Do: 2 weeks at least, 4 weeks at most.

GNOME Calendar: 2 weeks at most.

UI Freeze Break - GNOME Control Center (Online Accounts panel)

Greetings,

I hereby request a UI Freeze break, for some critical work on GNOME Control
Center's Online Accounts panel is ready to land.

The changes can be summarized as:

   1. Addition of a new translatable string (notifying about being offline)
   2. Addition of a three-dot button at the end of the list, hiding less
   used account providers
   3. Small tweaks on margins and spacing

The remaining patches [1] are already reviewed and approved, and are
waiting for the freeze break.

This work is of higher relevance because it's the end of the long process
of revamping the Online Accounts panel to match the latest mockups
available [2]. With this work, we believe that the new GNOME Control Center
UI can made official as of 3.26, for only two more panels need to be ported.
