I think this was the problem. I recently added my Desktop to iCloud and think 
GNUCash wouldn’t accept the remote file.

Others mentioned backups, and I have, but none were opening and GNUCash kept 
doing the blank book thing. Confusing and finding help was hard since I 
couldn’t find any troubleshooting till this list. 

I’ve solved the data file issue, thanks for the help, but GNUCash is still 
crashing :|

I have seen the same behavior when importing transactions
from both AMEX and my Credit Union (checking and credit card)
accounts. 

Chase accounts always seem to work perfectly. 

I can usually get the missing transactions by importing the
same download a second time. 

I've thought this to be odd behavior, but was never
sufficiently motivated to further delve into it.

The latest 19.04? That's probably got the same gtk-3-24 that's causing the 
behavior on Windows; the catch is that there's no nightly for Ubuntu 19.04 so 
you'd have to build it yourself from git source.

Re: [GNC] Export files for audit

Thanks.

I ran across a FAQ on the wiki that explains that, and I think it will
work well.

I just created a Transaction Report with the detail I need, and saved
it as an HTML file.  Then I opened the HTML file with LibreOffice/Excel
and formated it how I needed.

It looks pretty similar to what our Treasurer submitted last year to
the auditor.

Side Note- I noticed that the Running Balance column broke when I
selected Detail Level to Multi-Line in the Transaction Report.  This is
in GnuCash 3.4+ (2018-12-30) on Debian 9.  Does anyone know if that is
addressed in 3.5?  I'm so close to the end of the fiscal year I wanted
to wait to upgrade to 3.5 until after I closed this year's books.

You *installed* Mailman?

That has nothing to do with accessing the mailing list.

Yes, the list is run/managed by the Mailman software, but as a list user, you 
don’t need to install it. It runs on the mailing list server, not your local 
machine.

If you actually and literally (both correct usage here) *installed* Mailman on 
your computer, you can uninstall it, because you don’t need it.

To access the mailing list you just need to subscribe to the list with an 
e-mail address. (just like you’d sign up for free junk on any website, except 
in this case, you’re not signing up for junk, but help)

Does that mean that you do not have a backup of your data file?
Remember that a hard disc or PC can go up in smoke (literally or
metaphorically) at any moment.  Also there is always the possibility
of a bug or human error destroying the data. It is vital to take
regular backups of important data and keep occasional backups offsite
(in case of fire for example).  Also regularly check that you backups

I am seeing it on Ubuntu with 3.5.  Sorry, I should have said that.
