[GNC] Security timezone

2023-03-31 Thread Fred Tydeman
Is there a way to set a default timezone for adding security?
Is there a way to mass change the timezones for existing securities?

Re: [GNC] 5.0-1 (Flathub) issue

2023-03-31 Thread Adrien Monteleone
Correct, 4.14 did not get any new features, but did get most of the bug
fixes that went into 5.0. (though not all)

I too like it so far, and have already made plans to use it in cleaning
up spelling variations.

But I do understand how some cases would be not as easy or friendly.
Overall, I expect it to be as great or more of a time saver as the same
functionality for choosing transfer accounts. I foresee the few times it
takes me an extra click or two will be more than offset.

Adrien

[GNC] flatpak 5.0-1 crash

2023-03-31 Thread Dale Alspach
I have tried a few reports. Opening the Balance Sheet, Income or Future
Scheduled Transactions crashes Gnucash. Opening Advanced Portfolio or
Investment Portfolio does not always crash Gnucash, however these do not
work properly. They seem to be truncating the list of accounts. If I go to
Options -> Accounts the possibilities are truncated. In my case no top
level account further down the alphabet from Paypal is shown.

Details: linux mint 21.1, flatpak 5.0-1.

2023-03-31 Thread David G. Pickett via gnucash-user
A software update, uninstall, install should not change anything unless it
warns me the update requires a modification of the get quotes batch procedure.
Do you think uninstalling flatpak 5.0 and installing using Software 4.8, then
uninstalling using Software 4.8 and installing flatpak 5.0-1 messed it up?  See
above?
It looks like I never had a master, even on old backup directories:

Re: [GNC] 5.0-1 (Flathub) issue

2023-03-31 Thread Gyle McCollam
Having the option to choose either method is a good one, but I have no problem
with the change.

In fact, I would like to see the option to select from multiple previous
transfers. I have many vendors that have several transfer options and using
the last one is not what I would normally choose. For instance, the state (US)
& federal govt. make payments to us for pension, several tax relief programs,
and tax refunds. This happens with my insurance company as well, for
homeowners and car. Defaulting to the last transaction for the vendor still
means I have to make adjustments to the accounts.

Thank You,

So, previously it would correctly guess in one or two characters.

One of the problems (or perhaps the ACTUAL problem) is the embedded
search. To new users that might be considered helpful for a when you
"don't remember what you called it' - but for experienced users (perhaps
decades) who rely on the program, it's a major PITA! Perhaps an option
in the View menu to disable it/choose?

Thank you for your response(s). I totally am totally appreciative.
