Re: [GNC] Find Question

2024-02-17 Thread Joseph St. Denis via gnucash-user
Hello all

The easiest way to find the particular number is to be in the correct account
of the spilt if you are looking for a dining transaction of 31.82. Or any other
account details not the parent account.

I need to know how to find a number (31.82) that is in asplit entry. The find
function for this (^F) does not work. I press ^F, select ‘number’,‘contains’,
and ’31.82’. I do this from the main list of accounts or fromwithin the actual
account. I’ve even tried it from withing the account with thesplit open. The
results are always a search result tab with an emptytransaction. Does anyone
know how to do this?

Re: [GNC] Error in Mutal Funds value

2023-05-03 Thread Joseph St. Denis via gnucash-user
All of the transactions were entered manually. I did try to get the
transactions with a CVS and an QFX files but no transactions were found. I went
through all of the Mutual Funds in the pop ups. There were no results.

I checked the entries several times to make sure that the price data were
correct and the fund shares quantities matched. I also entered the data in a
spread sheet which confirmed the statements.

My problem is while the quantities match my statement and the current
balance do not match. My Fidelity account 720.76 more than my statement
while my holdings in Vanguard - 25585.99 less than my statement. I recently
grouped my Fidelity and Vanguard holdings was Parent Accounts so that I get
sub totals of the Retirement Account.

Re: [GNC] Gnucash 5 - import transactions

2023-04-25 Thread Joseph St. Denis via gnucash-user
I finally got the CVS download to work in 5.0. I had to drop using the type of
transaction to get it to work. Instead of the four columns that I used in 4.13.
When I tried a second CVS transfer from a second account Gnucash shutdown. When
I reopened Gnucash all the transactions were present.

Subject: Re: [GNC] Gnucash 5 - import transactions

I have now done a few more experiments and is not any less confused.

So to iterate, using 4.14, automatching works, using 5.0 it does not
work.

I tried turning on logging as John suggested. When I import to 5.0, I
get nothing logged during the operation. However, when trying to do the
import with 4.14, I am getting a number of warnings like this:

* 20:07:17  INFO  [GncTxImport::update_pre_split_props] User
warning: Column 'Konto' could not be understood.

The word "Konto" is danish for "Account". Even so, automatching did
work. I am attaching the log files from the two attempts below.

I then thought, perhaps this is a language thing (I am using danish both
on my computer and in the books), so I c'tried changing the language to
english but it did change the results, no automatching on verson 5.
Also, the warnings I see in version 4, now was in english (e.g
"Account").

I have also tried generating a completely new book, as simple as can be,
but the behaviour is exactly the same, so it is not something something
that has piled up in my actual book.

Since this does not appear to be a universal issue, it is possible that
it is somehow language related.

Attached below are the two aforementioned log files, the one named with
"4" is from the 4.14 run (which works) and the one with a "5" is from the
5.0 version (that is not working).

I can provide my test book and sample CSV files as well, if anybody
would like to see them.

Thanks for taking an interest in my issue.

There aren't changes to the matcher but Geert went through the CSV importer
bugs in January and fixed a bunch of them.

Tools>import Map Editor that Adrien suggested in his reply to your original
post will show you the recorded tokens and what accounts they indicate.

You can get more logging info by running GnuCash from Terminal with --log
gnc.import=debug. The output is written to the trace file, which you can change
by adding --logto=stderr to send it to the console or --logto=/some/path to
send it to a more convenient file.

On the ribbon locate the spilt icon and press it you should be able to see if

You need to give more details of the entry, possibly a screen shot as it is not

When entering interest in the account create a new transaction with transfer

I may have found a problem with my "french" version of Gnucash ? It would be
a question of date format maybe. (Date format: -mm-dd)

First, I can produce a complete list of all transactions for what ever dates
I want.

Next, in the General Tab I can get transaction from 2017 until now.

Then in the sorting tab: daily, weekly, trimestriel, annual : will give me a
nice report.

BUT if I hit MONTLY I always get an error message!!!

That, is just beyond me.

Hello. I'm just setting up GnuCash under Windows10. I've set up Schwab with OFX
direct connect. Everything is working perfectly in GnuCash except when I try to
download from my Schwab brokerage account it tells me there are no transactions
for the period I've indicated. I know there are transactions. I've checked the
dates and even selected a broader date range and still the no transactions
message. My credit card and bank accounts work fine. I know I have the right
Schwap because it retrieved my account numbers and I have a GnuCash account
associated with it. Any help with Schwab brokerage accounts? Dan.
