Re: [GNC] New Version 3.5

2019-04-03 Thread Pandem
I forgot to add that there has been previous messages on this subject from
GTI. The subject was ' [GNC] Change text color'.
GTI provided instructions on how to correct the issue and an example file
gtk-3.0.css.

I have used both the instructions and his file in my set up. I would suggest
that you change only ONE thing at a time and watch out for your syntax
errors.

Good luck

My eyes are old too. There is a solution however and I wish that just once a
new version would do this and cause the formatting to change. . Use the
following URL and follow the instructions

https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/GTK3#Manual_Styling_using_CSS_file.

I added this to the file and then saved the gtk-3.0.css file

/* Font Size in Documents */
* {
  font: 10pt arial, sans-serif;
}

Re: [GNC] Change text color

2018-10-07 Thread Pandem
GTI,

Maybe Geert does know ;-) if gnucash use the gtk defaults then maybe it does
not exist or need to. This is not really not a problem if I can modify the
bits that concern me. I don't need to know what I don't need to know.

My main interest in modifying the layout and colors in gnucash 3.3 is mainly
the colour and size of the tabs. My eye sight is not the best and I struggle
with gray on dark gray and then whats seems to be even gray color in the
font. The colour of the font has been fixed but the width of each tab is
just too wide. In the previous versions I had many more tabs across my
display now I seem to be restricted to many less. I have figured out how to
reduce the 'selected bar' under each tab thanks to your .css file. (This is
the notebook tab { padding-left padding-right} )

My main problem now is there is a gap between each tab that is not
necessary. So how to remove this gap between the tabs?

Re: [GNC] Change text color

2018-10-06 Thread Pandem
After writing my last reply I was wondering is there a file in the source
that has a list of the default colors and widths and heights of tabs etc.
I'm not a programmer however I have tried to search the source lists for
some that may give me the default parameters but I cannot find them. Can
someone point me to a file or similar that contains the defaults please

Re: [GNC] Change text color

2018-10-06 Thread Pandem
Thanks GTI,

Your contribution and the added information from Geert have been very
helpful.
One of the reasons to ask my initial questions were that in a long thread
the readers who come late can and do miss important things on the. What I
want you to do was to provide a summary of what you have found. You have
done that so thanks again.
In my experimentation with .CSS I have found out how to get gnucash almost
back to what I personal prefer and that is the colours and layout of gnucash
3.2. I just don't like the layout and colors in 3.2.
One final reason was a little bit of frustration and just being dumb on my
behalf. It seems I had two session of notepad++ editing the same .CSS file
and I was going nowhere real fast. Your answers made me look again so
thanks.

Re: [GNC] Change text color

2018-10-03 Thread Pandem
Thank you for your work on this subject I have found it interesting but very
helpful however I have a couple of question in regards the basic
configuration. There are lots or comments in the thread in regards to what
may or may not be required so I would like to clarify what is needed or not.
By the way I'm running gnucash 3.3 on win10 and some times I get
inconsistent results. So I would like to start again at the required base
but the thread does not give me base point that I can see.

For the required configuration to function correctly what should follow
parameters be set to:
In the settings.ini
 [Settings]
 gtk-application-prefer-dark-theme=false Should this be
true of false?

I have read the thread that this file is not required, so is the file
required or not?

in gnucash Edit > Preferences > Register Use Gnucash built-in color
theme
enable or disabled (tick or unticked)?

Thanks in advance.
