Re: [GNC] Font size in reports

2021-05-24 Thread John Ralls
Jill,

Stylesheets *are* global in that any one of them can be applied to any report.
There's one stylesheet named Default that all standard reports use unless told
otherwise in report options, so if you want a change to apply to all
reports--and you probably do in this case--then you edit the Default style
sheet.

Report options aren't sticky, meaning that the next time you run that report
you'll have to open report options and set the stylesheet again. Once you've
configured a report to your liking you can save those option settings with the
Save Config button in the tool bar. To run a saved configuration use
Reports>Saved Configurations to get a dialog box listing your saved reports
from which you can select and run one of them.

Regards,
John Ralls

Did you change the style sheet in report options to point to your new style
sheet? There's no need to restart GnuCash. If you change the report option it
will reload the report for you, but if you only edit the selected stylesheet
you'll need to reload the report manually using the reload button on the

Are you using GnuCash 4.2 or earlier on a Mac? If so, there's a bug that was

I have tried using the style sheets and nothing happens, simply no changes at

I tried again and created a new style sheet as per your link. Nothing changed.
I closed Gnu and reopened; going back into stylesheets it had reverted to the
CSS-based stylesheet. On a previous time I had edited that css, but again,

It simply doesn't work.

As per my original post, changes work if I add a new css file to the folder,
except for the reports, which remain very small font size.

[GNC] Font size in reports

2021-05-21 Thread Jill Terry

I have a problem in that the font size in reports is tiny!

Searching for the answer, I created a gtk-3.0.css file with the
following, and placed it in appdata > roaming > gnucash

* {
  font-size: 22px;
}

I tried various sizes and fonts and it worked - except on the reports,
which remained small!

Can somebody please advise me how I increase the font-size in reports

Re: [GNC] font size how to increase

2020-03-16 Thread Adrien Monteleone
There is no ‘built-in’ CSS for GnuCash. You have to create the file. If it
already exists, that means you created it long ago.

The first location will apply to only GnuCash.

The second will apply to all GTK apps you have installed on the system.

The GTK3 page of the wiki should explain it more completely. There is also a
diagram there for each OS showing file storage locations that GnuCash uses or
accesses for both the 2.6x. and 3.x series.

If you upgraded from 2.6.x to 3.x, the files might not have been copied over to
their new home, or else were copied and the old ones not deleted. You can clean
up as you feel necessary for your situation.

Adrien

Here is the confusing part that I see

You say C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\GnuCash\gtk.css
Do you put the CSS here to override the built-in ?

I do have it in C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\gtk-3.0\gtk.css

Why is it here and not the other, I don't know. Maybe from upgrading from a
long time ago. Was it originally there and upgrades over time kept reading
the CONFIG so it kept and pointed it there

Maybe I should purge GNC from windows and reinstall to get synced with the
WIKI ?

It belongs in:

I don’t recall if the Win7 version of Notepad can create proper plain text
files, but I think so. (don’t use Wordpad)

Place the following in the file:

* {
  font: 14pt arial, sans-serif;
}

Save the file as: gtk-3.0.css

If GnuCash was still running, you’ll probably have to close and restart it to
see the change.

Adjust the ‘14pt’ as needed. You can also choose a different font besides
arial. Any font installed on your system should work, but I’d stick to the
‘main’ fonts rather than something fancy. You may see incorrect or missing
characters if you choose a non-mainstream font.

Nope, not yet anyway. I just try to help out as much as I can on the list, but
thanks! (that *was* quite a long thread that did a deep dive into customizing
the UI. And it was very much a team effort.)

That worked. Thanks. I played around with it a bit and ended up with 13pt times

Let me try to be of help. Please don't give me credit for this as I got all of
the info from this very forum.

1. Create a txt file named

gtk-3.0.css

2. In the text file include the format below (substitute a different point size
and font of your choice)

* {
font: 15px consolas, sans-serif;
}

3. Save the file formatted as above and with the name as above to the folder

C:/Users/"name of computer"/AppData/Roaming/GnuCash

That's all there is to it. Restart Gnucash and it should be using the new font.

2019-09-03 Thread rmomxtx
Fair enough. Operating system: Windows 10. Installed from a downloaded file
from the GnuCash website, an upgrade from I think 2.18, something like that.

I read the instructions at the GTK3 page. I’m not smart enough to understand
what it is asking me to do. Requires some technical knowledge to get to
settings that I’m not familiar with, i.e. how to access settings.ini or the
GNC_CONFIG_HOME/gtk-3.0.css file:

Thanks much,

Roger

Thanks,

What operating system are you using? How did you install GnuCash?

I looked in the FAQ

which suggested I look on the GTK3 page:

but as you can see, depending on your system you may need to look in yet
another place.

Let us know more about your system and whether you can find what you need on
the wiki. (This looks like a weak point in the FAQ, so please help us

Re: [GNC] Font size in journals ver 3.5 build 3.5+ (2019-03-30)

2019-09-03 Thread David Carlson
Actually, there are several rabbit holes there but they mostly relate to
the operating system that your instance of GnuCash happens to be running in.

As Tommy Trussell mentions, we cannot help much without knowing which you
are using. It would be very difficult to make a FAQ entry that would not
become obsolete faster than last year's phone book (remember those?), so
the best advice is to ask again here or learn more about your operating
system.

Re: [GNC] font size

2018-10-07 Thread Adrien Monteleone
For simplicity,

* {
  font-size: 12px;
}

is the minimum needed to change the size. You can use the shorthand ‘font’
property as you indicated, but you have to include the font-family for it to
work. Of course, using it, you can also change the font if you wish.

Adrien

One important note about using TextEdit: It creates RTF files by default and
those don’t work. Before saving the file select Format>Make Plain Text (if it
says Make Rich Text then you’re already set).

Just been through this myself and had good help on IRC so...

In TextEdit type in;

* {
  font: 12px Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
}

Save the file in

~/Library/Application Support/GnuCash/config/gtk-3.0

Name it;

gtk.css

You may find that placing the pointer over the 'Reconciled' column in an
account causes the tooltip to flicker rapidly. This can be fixed by
creating a new file in the same place named 'settings.ini'.

This file should contain;

[Settings]
gtk-cursor-theme-size=16

Hope this is helpful

[GNC] font size

2018-10-07 Thread Red Ochre
I have the same question as Alex Garcia, below. I am a Mac user of GnuCash and
the font size has suddenly increased and is too big since updating to V3.3
I looked at the GnuCash wiki re GTK3 but I’m not technical enough to
understand. I tried to enter "gtk-query-settings theme” into the terminal but
it came back with there is no such command. I looks like I might need to
install a tool GTK3 and then learn how to run it. I hope I am mistaken here -
all I want to do is to put the font size back to where it was before the
upgrade to V3.3. Surely that shouldn’t be that hard.

Thanks for any advice.

Take a look at the wiki concerning GTK3.

[GNC] font size

2018-10-06 Thread alex garcia
Hello, I am Mac user and I have recently downloaded the version 3.3 of GNUCash.
Unfortunately with this version, the overall fonts are too big and I would like
to make them smaller.

Any Idea how to do it?
Thanks a lot
