Re: [GNC] Account Name Matching
On Windows 10, I use the application icon in taskbar to close and then open the application window which returns back the focus and am able to do subsequent data entry as desired. I gotten into that situation in multiple instance where applications main window refuses to get attention or when a smaller non-modal window disappear behind the app's larger window. Not sure if there something similar in your distro or not but I suspect there should be. On a GUI desktop most distro's have a virtual desktop manipulation app, that should allow you to do simple operation to the main application window such as close, open, move, resize, etc. I think GNC uses GTK libraries underneath it so that quirk might be in there rather than in GNC itself. -- Message: 1 Date: Sun, 14 Nov 2021 11:43:16 -0600 From: Adrien Monteleone mailto:adrien.montele...@lusfiber.net> > To: gnucash-u...@lists.gnucash.org <mailto:gnucash-u...@lists.gnucash.org> Subject: Re: [GNC] Account Name Matching Message-ID: mailto:smrhrl$l8p$1...@ciao.gmane.io> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed I had a similar issue a few days ago. Dale, I wonder if this is somehow related to https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=798162 That bug was resolved in 4.6, but your problem sounds suspiciously similar... David T. Re: [GNC] Account Name Matching
As I recall, this issue was reported a good while back on a GnuCash version. I don't recall the version or the OS it was on. Or something similar, where a text field couldn't be edited, and cursor couldn't be manipulated. I forgot what the solution was. It seems like the work around was to place the cursor into a different field, edit that, then place the text cursor back into the problem field. Sorry this isn't very helpful, but maybe it will jog the memory of someone more capable? Re: [GNC] Account Name Matching
Hi Dale, Nope, works as expected on Ubuntu 21.10 using the latest 4.8 flatpak version and also on macOS. Haven't noticed anything amiss on Win7, Win10 either. If I enter an invalid account I can still backspace, click the down arrow, use Escape, etc. Cheers David H. [GNC] Account Name Matching
I have encountered what appears to be buggy behavior when entering the Transfer account for a transaction. If I make a typing error so that no existing account matches, the Transfer cell does not allow editing, i.e., backspace doesn't work, arrows don't work, the cursor position can be changed with the mouse but delete doesn't work. If I can get the "Do you want to create this account?" popup to appear (answer No), I can sometimes get something sensible to happen and then fix the name.
