I don;t have Quickbooks so I'm not sure how well the import will work. It seems the other respomders missed the part in the sunject about converting from GNUcas to Quickbooks. First step is to back your datafile(s) up onto another device or a flashdrive or the cloud before you lose access. If you open Gnucash to your file, then select File->SaveAs the file manager normally opens at the location on your hard disk where your file is located. Note the path to the file if you are going to store it in a cloud location or change location to your flashdrive and store the file on it. You can get a free Dropbox account by signing up on their website which is then accessible from any device you connect to it from. Google Drive, OneDrve etc are all similar alternatives and most offer free limited storage to customers and keep a record of the account details. Once your file is safely stored you have the time to find an alternative device. - David Cousens -- Sent from: http://gnucash.1415818.n4.nabble.com/GnuCash-User-f1415819.html ___ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user If you are using Nabble or Gmane, please see https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Mailing_Lists for more information. - Please remember to CC this list on all your replies. My advice is, replace the laptop. I think any other "fixes" would be painful. Re: [GNC] Data conversion to QuickBooks
If you have an Android phone, it looks like Wine 5.0 can run on Android, and I bet GnuCash can run in Wine 5.0. So, "it's possible", that you could run GnuCash on an Android phone (or tablet?). However, the more time you spend accounting, the more you're going to want a better interface. I have no experience doing this, but if you try it LUK how it works 😉 Kind regards, Greg Feneis (Pixel 3) On Sun, May 24, 2020, 07:53 James Cook wrote: > On Sun, 24 May 2020 at 08:33, Jane Knichel-Aldea > wrote: > > Hi: > > Does anyone know if a gnucash file can be converted to QuickBooks online? > > Or if not, is there an online version of Gnucash? If you have an Android phone, you may be able to get some of GnuCash's functionality from the Android app. However, I have not tried it so I don't know what you can and can't do with it. Also, according to https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/GnuCash_and_Mobile_Devices it has not been updated since 2018 (and is a separate project from GnuCash itself), so I would not rely on it as a long-term solution. Re: [GNC] Data conversion to QuickBooks
There is no way to operate GnuCash completely online but it can be run remotely via SSH on a remote terminal and there are ways to store your data file either in the cloud or on a USB key. You might consider going to a qualified retailer such as MicroCenter or BestBuy and ask about a low cost solution. Other users may also have suggestions.
