Good. That eliminates my concern. I hope Julie finds a solution.

I've set up BTC and ETH as Digital cash as per Julie's screenshots (I
think) and it seems to retrieve the quotes ok, see below...

Re: [GNC] Online crypto value quote

2022-06-17 Thread David T. via gnucash-user
I'll note that Julie's first attachment stated that quotes were not returned
for certain entries. Finance::Quote is returning that error, so it is
installed.

I see in Julie's attachment that her bitcoin entry is assigned to "Digital
Cash". The screen shot for the Yahoo! suggests that their site categorizes
bitcoin in CCC. I know in the past that F::Q would fail to retrieve quotes
unless I matched this exactly. You might try changing "Digital Cash" to "CCC"
and see what happens.

That's the thing with server errors. Sometimes they are quite transient.
I've done a simple reload of a page, or re-run a command and received
expected results right after a 500-class error.

Re: [GNC] Online crypto value quote

2022-06-16 Thread Geoff

Hi David

Yes, Bitcoin certainly is quoted on Yahoo:

https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/BTC-USD/

Julia's problem is with Finance::Quote itself, not Bitcoin, as she can't
get quotes for IBM.

Hi Julie

[Etiquette - always include the list in all
your emails.]

OK, we need to try and find out why Finance::Quote itself is not working.

Please try this command (all one line):

perl -MFinance::Quote -e 'my $q = Finance::Quote->new(); print
$q->fetch(q/yahoo_json/,q/IBM/);'

You're right when you suggested verifying if it's working properly.
I see the details such as date, currency, etc are missing. Attached is the

Could you let me know what I should do?

Thank you
