It does seem odd that the importer does not default to the same choice that the user has chosen for the data file, even though it is important to allow the user to change it if (s)he has a CSV file with a different choice. I set the date format to m-d-y in Edit>Preferences>Date/time When I import CSV files, the date format on the Preview Settings page shows y-m-d. I manually change the format to m-d-y.
