During my stay in Margao, in May this year, I was surprised to find
that as a rule, milk is invariably sold above the *Maximum Retail
Price* printed on the packets.
I made several enquiries, but, was unable to find even one vendor who
sells milk at the MRP.
I have with me a *Cash Memo* bearing number 3548, dated 17 May 2006,
brazenly issued by *Shri Mahalaxmi Goa Bhandar*, Classic Heritage,
Pajifond, Margao, Goa, clearly showing the sale price of a 500ml
packet of *Nandini* milk as Rs.8.50/- which is higher than the MRP.
Will appreciate advice as to:
- the name and address of the concerned authorities to whom one may
register such complaints;
- the procedure to be followed in such matters with the concerned
authorities.

recently we launched a campaign against "Goa dairy" for unfair trade
practices.
You could write to the foll :
Write a letter of protest to the following Departments/Officials
highlighting the extra amount being collected from consumers
and seeking ACTION from their office:-
(a)The Controller, Legal Metrology Department, Near Municipal
Garden,Panaji, 403 001, with a copy to The Inspector, Legal
Metrology Dept. in your Taluka.
(b)The Director, Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs,
Junta House,Panaji, 403 001 with a copy to The Civil Supplies
Inspector in your Taluka.
(c)The Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Panaji.
(d)The Sub Divisional Magistrate (who is also the Dy.Collector) ,Office
of the Mamlatadar,Margao,Goa
(e)The Chief Secretary, Govt. of Goa, Secretariat, Porvorim, Bardez,Goa
If you wish to complain specifically about Goa Dairy,the add is:

Consumers should never pay more than the MRP ,commissions should be worked
out between the manufacturer and the shopkeepers and retailers.If more
people protest,it will really be effective.Manufacturers must change their
Distribution,Marketing and Pricing Policy.Consumers should not be burdened
and overcharged.
It is good to come across a consumer like you, who wants to take action
against unfair trade practices.
