Could some reader with the offer some guidance via this excellent tool for sharing tips and ideas? >> FN Miguel, Frederick, Simple text files, complex *Word* documents, spreadsheets, etc, etc, on the Windows platform, may be easily converted to PDF files with a simple utility called *Pdf995* available for *FREE* at www.pdf995.com. *Pdf995* may be used on Windows 95, 98, 2000 and ME, NT 4.0 and XP (32 bit and 64 bit), Windows 2003 (32 bit and 64 bit), Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit); Citrix/Terminal Server and configuration as a shared network printer. Have been using pdf995, without any trouble, for the past few years. This seems particularly workable, since the Ulo's model is not dependent on circulation-revenue (rather, they earn wholly from advertising and hand out copies free). So, they would actually *gain* and not lose from free readership elsewhere (unless the case of subscription-dependent models such as Goa Today and Goan Observer.) It's very easy to convert files into PDF on the GNU/Linux platform. You just do a 'save as' in Open Office, and hey presto, there's a PDF. You can even save presentations from OpenOffice Impress into PDF. Then, it's also possible to create PDF documents using tools like Lyx (a great book-making software), etc. Problem is, I don't know how the Windows platform works (haven't used it for at least a couple of years, except very reluctantly in cybercafes, when there's no choice).
