[Goanet]BJP Govt in Goa in trouble

2005-02-01 Thread karla
Dears,
It is the night of the long knives. The rumour mill is working over time.
Talks of switching allegiance, exchange of money for vote, resignations,
cross-voting, whips, disqualifications, Writ petititions, Governor's rule,
President's Rule, dismissal, suspended animation, bedlam and violence abound
.

Mobile phones and SMS have made rumour-mongering an art form. If two-timing
men and women have glibly informed their spouses that they are doing over
time without mentioning where and with whom, politicians and wannabe
politicians have been glibly telling people what is happening currently at
Raj Bhavan while sitting in the comfort of a cafe in town sipping tea. The
only folks who do not yet have this luxury are the visual media[ TV
camera-men and photographers] who do not have stock shots of such
political activity. When was the last time one saw Ravi Naik embracing
Madkaikar or Dr.Willy talking to Rane at the Raj Bhavan or Babush Monserrate
with Radharao?

Tomorrow at 2.30 P.M. there may be a Bing Bang..or one may not even hear
a whimper. That is the appointed hour for the one and only show of
strength.the Floor Show!

BJP government in trouble in Goa:
[India News]: Panaji, Jan 29 : At least three Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP) legislators quit the party in Goa Saturday bringing down its
strength in the assembly to 19 but Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar
insisted he still enjoyed majority.
The Congress party, however, claimed the BJP government had been
reduced to a minority and staked its claim to forming a new
government.
But Parrikar told journalists that he very much enjoyed majority
support and that the Congress would have to prove its support in the
40-member legislature.

One thing is for sure, many politicians are going to spend a sleepless
nightunless exhaustion, stupour or the spirits overtake their senses.
The total number of MLAs surviving in the Goa Assembly tonight is 36...the
vernacular version of the Arabic numerals 96...or is it the ulta-pulta 69?
What happens in the morning is a different cup of tea.
