´During our journey to Fort Aguada prison the local
populace in Betim and Verem would greet us with
´vivas´. Every week we would receive visits from Goan
friends and their families who would bring along
fruits, sweets and food.
The indian troops would be shocked at this
demonstration of friendship on the part of Goans who
in this case were hindus, muslims and catholics´.
