Re: [Goanet] Cipriano R.I.P. Hmm...who/what killed em?

2011-01-21 Thread Dr . Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão

There are a lot of unanswered questions.
1- What was the cause of death?
2- Was he an alcoholic and consumed alcohol even when on duty on board the
cruise ship?
3- When was his last medicals done and where? Are the reports available?
4- From today's news it appears that he had convulsions and was seen by witness
at 10:30 hrs with froth in the mouth, was it "status epilepticus" that caused
his death? If so the cops have neglected giving him prompt medical care as it
is an emergency.
5- His CT scans show bilateral cebellar infarcts, what was the duration of
these infarcts? Was it the cause of his behavioural dysfunction?

Doctors can only give the cause of death, and if any disease or injury
contributed to the cause of death. The rest a smart advocate can try his luck
in cross examination in the Courts.

ONION prices are finally on a decline. But how did it happen?

Go to middle class restaurant (87% in urban areas are of this category) and
order thali or a la carte and observe: the ONION CHOPS, RINGS or SLICES you
were served erstwhile as gratis replaced with CABBAGE CHOPS, CUCUMBER RINGS or
TOMATO SLICES.

High onion prices killed its demand and eventually the price. This is

Which is the next onion? Gasolene?

[Goanet] Photo Journalist assaulted by a migrant vendor in Panjim Market

2011-01-21 Thread JoeGoaUk
Photo Journalist assaulted  by a migrant  vendor in Panjim

This incident took place  on 19th  January 2011

GT 20/1/11 (Partly)
When  the cameraman  hand gone to the Panjim  market to take pics
of  vegetables  for a news report /story on prices of vegetables.
Suddenly,  one Hyder Ali,  noticing him taking pics of a tall near to his,
shouted at him not to take photos.
He then rushed  towards him and allegedly assaulted  him.
He even tried to damage hiscamera
Complained was lodge with the police and the vendor Hyder Ali
was arrested under section 323 and 341 of IPC.
PI Sandesh Chodankar is conducting further  investigation.
Meanwhile, the photo Journalist Association,  Goa Condemned
the attack.
This is a serious attack on the freedom  of the press and expression
and needs to be condemed’
says Atish Naik General secretary of the Association, demanding immediate
arrest and stern action against the accused.

Well, if this is the treatment to our  press/media persons I was
wondering  what could be the treatment to  people like me or
amateur photographers.
As I often take pic of Panjim Market (last time I did just a day or two
before the incident)

See it here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-KN-kaRhkM

here is a selection of Panjim Market pics - most recent ones
http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=panjim%20vegetables%20joegoauk&w=all
http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=all&q=panjim+fruits+market+joegoauk&m=text

Taking this incidence seriously, we went to the market to enquire
same day we read it on H/GT 20/11

We managed to locate  the vegetable vendor’s stall
Just before that, I asked another fellow fruit vendor
‘Tu Hyder Ali hai kya?’
He replied ‘Mein Nahim, voh hai’ point  his finger to his
opposite stall.
We asked the young chap (there were two, both in their mid 20s
one wearing heavy chain around his neck)
‘Kal Kya hua ta, kiski galti ti’ he noded his head to say
‘he does not know’
Others told me Hyder is their ‘Malik’ or boss who was not
there at this  time.

We asked few others nearby, but none told us the truth, they were
very cooperative though (I guess, this is partly because I am a known
face to them, some of them even take me as patrakar).
I asked them ‘ Agar meine foto liya to mereko bhi marega kya?’
Infact, when  I take pictures, most of them even seen posing in
style  before the camera but little they realise that I only take
picture of their  nicely arranged veggies or fruits.
Some said they were on lunch break at the time of incident.
However, a distant fruit vendor told me, it was the Vendor’s fault
and that he must have learnt his lesson now (after Police arrest).

The alleged assault is very serious in nature.
Should we get beating from migrants in our own Goa?

Ye kya chal raha hai, hamare gaum meim?
‘Hamari Billi Hamko Myaum?’

And we Goans watch this with fingers in out mouth?
The photo journalists at least could have taken the pic of the stall
and flash it on all dailies.
The assault should have been reported by all Goan dailies but
strangely I could  not see it on NT and TOI despite checking issues
dtd 20the and 21st.
Sometimes, I wonder if they are didvided amongst themselves as in
our tiartists fraternity.

I was just wondering if any member of the association PJAG
chased the police  in connection with this case
Pl keep us updated.

[Goanet] Goanet Reader: The new age of whistleblowing: advantage, Wikileaks (Spider, Karachi)

2011-01-21 Thread Goanet Reader
The new age of whistleblowing: advantage, Wikileaks

How WikiLeaks infiltrated the
society and turned the tables
on the institution that helped
create it

The irony that the internet -- an offshoot of the Advanced
Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET), an effort
supported by the United States government to facilitate
communications in the event of a nuclear war -- became the
medium to expose secrets of the very institution that created
it, and subsequently became the stage for an
information/cyber war, is not easy to ignore.

Since the last couple of months, WikiLeaks, an international
non-profit organisation which has acquired quite a reputation
for publishing sensitive material from anonymous news sources
and news leaks, has been the centre of much debate and
speculation. WikiLeaks works by combining the latest security
technologies, with principles that it believes to be the
foundation of ethical journalism.

The recent release of the 250,000 top-secret government
documents by WikiLeaks, has provoked unparalleled global
interest, both positive, negative, and everything in between.

WikiLeaks has angered politicians, and emboldened free speech
supporters; it has unleashed hackers onto websites they
believe are against its founder, Julian Assange, and sparked
debates about freedom of information and the state's right
to protect its secrets. It has also raised questions about
how governments control their internal flow of information,
and how organisations "dedicated" to transparency and
disclosure, change tactics to stem the flow of information.

Amidst the flurry of activity, it is quite easy to overlook
the role of the main actor, the World Wide Web, in what is
dubbed as the Cablegate scandal. As ReadWriteWeb notes,
"WikiLeaks, the site and the group behind it, could not have
happened until the social Web did. Leaks' have happened for
decades, but the penetration and the volume of documents only
became possible recently. Websites, e-mails, wikis, blogs,
microblogs, and social networks created a network of avenues
for [the] leaks to come in and to spread out again."

The social Web provides a setup for information to
move back and forth, to share opinions. It gives
everyone more data and opportunities to make up
their own minds and keeps life-and-death topics
like war, fully in the bull's-eye heat of
aggressive social interaction. The WikiLeaks saga
may have begun with the disclosures on the website
but its impact reached out to the real world, to
the extent that the US government felt the need to
  shut it down.

WikiLeaks suffered distributed Denial of Service (DDoS)
attacks and after being contacted by the US state department,
PayPal, MasterCard, Amazon, and various banks and hosting
companies terminated their services to WikiLeaks. Julian
Assange, on the other hand, was targeted by being arrested.
However, through the power of social media, WikiLeaks was
able to bounce back.

The official WikiLeaks website was taken down after the
release of the initial batch of cables, but it was made
available on several mirror websites, which duplicated
WikiLeaks' material. Social media tools like Twitter helped
WikiLeaks reach out to thousands of enthusiasts willing to
help out by hosting a mirror of the website, uploading a
torrent with the latest cables or by donating to the website.

Social media was also the one that helped WikiLeaks
go viral and regardless of what any nation, company
or organisation may want, it is safe to say that
WikiLeaks isn't going away. On the other hand, to
avenge the attempts to censor WikiLeaks,
  "Anonymous," the loosely affiliated global
  cybermilitia, began retaliatory DDoS attacks,
  titled "Operation Payback", against Visa,
MasterCard, Amazon and other major corporations.

Again, by harnessing the power of social media -- Twitter,
Facebook, and online message boards like 4chan -- Anonymous
apparently convinced a number of other botnet operators to
join in the attacks. Anonymous members have essentially
posted virtual handbills across the internet to rally new
participants.

Twitter posts have been used to organise, time, and target
the attacks. The New York Times observed in a report, how
hackers who used social networking sites, like Twitter and
Facebook to organise their efforts, could be testing those
websites as platforms for free speech vis-a-vis their
aspirations to be advertising and corporate hotspots.

Social networking sites have a tenuous relationship
with their sources of revenue (advertisers) and
those actually using the website -- for whatever
ends. However, as New York University Professor
Clay Shirky told The New York Times, the Web is
actually "a corporate sphere that tolerates public
  speech".

As the hacker

Tags:Satnam Singh Chahal|Punjab govt|NRI property|Gurjant SinghPATIALA: Under
attack for its failure to protect NRIs properties in the state, the Punjab
government is bringing some changes in rules to make the process of selling
NRIs properties more transparent.

The Punjab police have started the process of bringing changes in rules
governing the sale of properties of NRIs. If all goes well, no one, even
persons having the power of attorney (POA), will be able to sell the
properties

of NRIs without the involvement of latter.

The director general of Punjab police, Parmdeep Gill, informed a delegation of
NRIs about new changes in the rules.

"In majority of land fraud cases of NRIs, caretakers have sold properties by
forging the documents and without the consent of NRIs. The DGP informed us on
Wednesday that after the implementation of the new system, which would be
implemented in near future, the revenue officers would inform their respective
deputy commissioners (DCs) whenever anyone would try to sell the property of
an

NRI. The deputy commissioner, in turn, will inform the owner-NRI and the
sale-deed would only be allowed after obtaining the consent of the concerned
NRI," North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) chief Satnam Singh Chahal said
here on Thursday.

The NAPA delegation had met the Punjab DGP and submitted the details of NRIs
properties encroached by police officers and land mafia.

"If the new system is implemented, it would provide much-needed protection to
our properties. In past, many persons have sold NRIs properties by forging
documents because revenue department officers did not inform NRIs at the time
of registration of sale-deeds of their properties," said Gurjant Singh from
Canada, whose two acres were sold fraudulently in Mohali by his relatives.

Some NRIs told TOI that they had given POA of their properties to their
relatives so that power connections and minor things could be done by their
relatives. But their relatives sold their properties and they learnt about the
sale of their properties many months after of sale.

"Usually all NRIs don't come to their villages every year and majority come
after many years. But their relatives sold their properties by preparing fake
POA as they were not informed by revenue department before the sale of their
properties. The new system may reduce the number of frauds if the government
implements it at the earliest" Chahal said.

Education for sale
Pseudo educationists develop new methods to exploit parents

By Nisser Dias
nisserdias at gmail.com

As the current academic year is coming to a close, government approved
private unaided schools run by businessmen are at it again with the same
old intention to bleed parents of their hard earned money through some
devious method or the other. And though the deceitful schemes of the
businessmen and women in educationist clothing have been brought the
notice of the government through the director of Education, nothing has
changed and the exploitation of the parents continues unabated.

The malaise is so deep rooted due to gullible and vulnerable parents
that the persons managing Trusts, Society and Mandals have even breached
High Court order of maintaining status quo on the proposal of hike in
fees and have charged parents higher fees not approved by the Director
of Education as mandated in the Goa State Education Act.

Be that as it may, businessmen who saw an opportunity in making easy
money through education, devise innovative ways to squeeze money from
the parents. Initially it was through pre-primary education (Junior KG &
Sr. KG). The idea behind admitting a three and half year old child at
the pre-primary level in a particular institution was because the
absorption in the same school at the primary level becomes easier. The
pseudo educationist saw through the idea and started exploiting parents
by demanding huge sums of money for admissions. Donation became the
prime criteria for admittance of a three and half year old child in an
unaided institution and even some aided schools.

Furthermore earlier admission was assured if parents paid the donation
but in today’s scenario parents are being made to pay to reserve a seat.
In other words you pay for reserving the seat and then pay more for
admission depending upon the demand. Which means parents who cannot make
it during earlier stages of admission process have to pay a much higher
price.

In Goa too after the Progressive Democratic Front government changed the
medium of instruction from English to Konkani or Marathi; businessmen
saw an opportunity to commercialize education. Of course our illiterate
politicians do not have the vision or the foresight and business houses
were more than happy to convince the government of their social
responsibility towards the society and the need to set up schools
without government financial aid. Of course our buffoons in the
government and the Directorate of Education did not see through the
designs of these businessmen and allowed them to set up schools.

Today we have these institutions running even nurseries (play schools).
It is not that nurseries did not exist, they did but they were run in
villages maybe by a housewife at a minimal cost. But today big names
unaided schools in Goa have made it sort of a cottage industry. And the
terms are the same, huge donation during admissions with promises of
easy admittance in pre-primary besides huge fees.

While on the topic of fees there are schools in Goa who have adopted
multiple fee structures in the same division. The calculation goes like
this, for children studying in class first, if the child had joined the
institution in KG 1 and has reached first standard a certain fee
structure, if another child is enrolled in the institution in KG 2 and
reaches class one it is a different fee structure and if a child
directly admitted in first standard it is yet another fee structure.

Coming back this year a school in the commercial capital of Goa have
commenced developing a new section called a ‘playgroup’ for children
just above two years. I simply cannot understand the rationale behind
this group as children of two years should be at home enjoying, learning
the basics of talking, walking, running and in comfort of their parents
and those at home. They surely should not be in a room of children with
a teacher screaming at their sense of curiosity. I am pretty sure that
the management of this particular school do not have philanthropic ideas
about developing this group, it can only be money.

And these are the same unaided schools which always boast about quality
education. A two year child spends quality time with its parents and not
in school. If the managements of these schools snatch this quality time
with the parents what quality education can it impart.

Talking about imparting quality education there should be quality
personnel. There is complaint on record filed before Director of
Education, wherein a principal termed parents, “Bloody violent Goans”.
If the principal can resort to abusive language, it amply indicates he
himself does not have ethics, morals and values for his students to
emulate and how can this principal impart quality education. The
Director of Education too as is her habit is sitting tight on the
complaint. A principal insults Goans and the

American
Life 10

Hatemongering...

New York: It was a jaw-dropping piece of news. Gabrielle Giffords, a young
Democratic member of the House of Representatives from Tucson, Arizona was
shot in the head by a crazed assassin in a parking lot as she did her
regular meeting with her constituents on Saturday January 8.

The shooting shocked America. Since March 1981, when John W Hinckley Jr took
a shot at Ronald Reagan, I can recall no other such event. The Reagan
shooting precipitated a national debate on gun control; this latest one
raised issues about the polarization in politics that took hold when George
W Bush was president.

For me, the news harked back to the night of May 21 1991 when I got a call
informing me that Rajiv Gandhi was killed in Sriperumbudur in the southern
state of Madras. My heart went out to the family, friends and staff of
Giffords.

Giffords' immediate supporters probably feel today as I felt on that stormy
night in May 1991: the dream was over; political violence has a way of
putting paid to ideals. I worked with Rajiv for many years and was
devastated at the news of his death.

When Rajiv was assassinated, I told an interviewer from The Times of India
that he was killed because of the hate atmosphere that was created by his
opponents in politics and in the media.

Amazingly, this was among the issues being debated 30 years later in
America. In a television discussion on January 12, David Remnick, editor of
The New Yorker, told the host Charlie Rose that hate mongering is an
important determinant of political assassinations.

It brought to mind the assassinations of Abraham Lincoln, Mohandas Gandhi,
John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. Their
opponents had launched a relentless and visceral hate campaign against them.
In his cool, scholastic way Remnick endorsed what I told the Times in a fit
of emotion some two decades ago.

Among the many stories that emerged from the Giffords shooting, one was
about Sarah Palin's website on which she had marked targeted constituencies
for her yet-unspoken campaign in 2012 with cross-hair targets and one of
them was Giffords' 8th congressional district in southern Arizona.

In the middle of the reasoned debate about how a polarized hate atmosphere
can move deranged people to target public figures, Sarah Palin, the
erstwhile Republican vice presidential candidate, the Narendra Modi of
American politics, weighed in; she accused the media of "blood libel."

In turn, her detractors pointed out that her phrase "blood libel" was
anti-semitic. The phrase has been used since Biblical times to reinforce the
fundamentalist Christian view that Jews are the killers of Jesus Christ.
Like Gujarat's Modi, she lacks sophistication, preferring the use of
propaganda to work up her constituents; like Modi, she uses insulting and
intemperate words to score over her opponents.

A recent example of this was in her tweet: "So how's the hopey-changey thing
working out for ya?"

Contrast Palin's tilt in the debate to the much anticipated speech that
President Barack Obama gave after the shooting. Rising above the clamor, he
said that political differences are real but should not be allowed to become
the source of violence. He reached out to his opponents and asked for a
compact of civility that would foreswear hate.

Watching television coverage and debates on the shooting of Congresswoman
Giffords, I was struck by several things. One, the coverage was
wall-to-wall. Two, there was a liberal slant to it in that most reporters
and commentators pointed discreet fingers at the right-wing cable and radio
mafia for hatemongering. Three, they got Sarah Palin embroiled in it.

It's much like what the Indian media do except the Americans did it in a
sophisticated, understated and well-researched fashion. No screaming and
shouting and rumor-mongering, just well-reasoned arguments.

Conversations on public affairs in India are sophomoric with opinions based
on prejudice rather than facts; debates are in the nature of high school
encounters; the discourse as a result is usually twisted and misses the
point. Indeed, if America is a post-doctoral democracy, India is still to
get into college.

Though it may be not the most politically correct thing to say, fingers can
be pointed at Mohandas Gandhi's jibe. Asked what he thought of Western
civilization, he said, "It would be a good idea."

In that one smug remark, Gandhi dismissed the Renaissance, the Reformation
and the Enlightenment movements that raised the West to unprecedented
heights of prosperity and civility.

Consider 21st century India: people urinate and defecate in public;

[Goanet] Venerable Agnelo

2011-01-21 Thread Ivo

Venerable Father Agnelo de Sousa: Son of our Archdiocese
*Dr.Ivo da Conceição Souza

Introduction:

As a seed sprouts in a field under certain conditions, so also human beings
grow in different places differently. We need conditions and opportunities
for education. Our Goan personalities have been shining throughout the
world. Some of them grew in the Goan soil under some conditions. Father
Agnelo de Sousa grew in our own soil. We shall briefly examine how he grew
as a son of Goan soil, of our families, of our environment. He was a son of
Goan soil, a son of Goan Catholic families, a son of our culture, a son of
Goan Archdiocese. We are longing to see him on the altar as a Saint, as a
source of inspiration for our youth. He grew in a good family, in a good
parish, excelling in human and Christian maturity. His nature and nurture
will shed light on the social, cultural and spiritual atmosphere of Goan
society and ecclesial community at those times.

His Life: Born on January 21, 1869, in the ward of Ganvaddi of Anjuna, to
Miguel Arcanjo Mariano de Sousa and Maria Sinforosa Perpétua Magalhães, he
was solemnly baptized with the name of Agnelo Gustavo Adolfo de Sousa, on
February 13, 1869, by Fr.João Baptista de Sousa, Asst.Parish-priest of
Anjuna, with the permission of the Vicar-in-charge, Fr.Valentim Constantino
Fernandes. The name given to him, Agnelo (from the Latin term agnus,
agnellus, "little lamb") was tallying with his nature: he was gentle,
peace-loving, humble, faithful to rules and regulations, "blindly" obedient,
lover of silence. The atmosphere of faith and love, in which Agnelo grew in
the bosom of his family, instilled in him apostolic spirit. His Mother would
give catechetical instruction to the children of neighbourhood.

Agnelo lost his father, when he was only eleven years old (on May 6, 1880),
and his mother, two years later, on May 22, 1882. On her death bed, his
Mother summoned her children round her and, pointing out to the picture of
the Mother of Jesus, told them: "My darling children, I am about to leave
you for good. From now onwards your true Mother is our Lady, to whom you
should turn in all your needs". Agnelo grew in his great devotion to the
Virgin Mary.

One of his uncles, Fr.Lázaro Fortunato Sousa, seeing his zeal in the
catechism classes, prophesied: "Agnelo will one day be a virtuous Priest and
a renowned Preacher". He was an angel of peace among his classmates. He
completed his theological studies in the Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol, on
March 22, 1893.

As the Portuguese Government forbade religious societies in Goa, but he
ardently desired to join a Religious Order, Agnelo made up his mind to seek
admission in the Society of Missionaries of St.Francis Xavier at Pilar.
After being admitted as a candidate in the Society of Pilar on July 17,
1897-the feast day of Our Lady of Pilar, patroness of the Convent and of the
Society-he was ordained Deacon on December 18, 1897, by the first Patriarch
of the East Indies, Archbishop Dom António Sebastião Valente (1882-1908), at
the Convent of Santa Mónica, Old Goa, and five months later on May 22, 1898,
he made his first profession as a member of Missionary Society of Pilar, in
the presence of the Superior, Msgr.Lúcio Vaz, the successor of Fr.Bento
Martins, the Founder and first Superior of the Society in 1887.

He was ordained a Priest on September 24, 1899, by the same Dom
António Sebastião Valente, at the Cathedral See of Goa. He offered his First
Eucharist at the Monastery of Pilar, in the presence of the Members of the
Society, friends, relatives and people from the surrounding villages.

His Priestly Ministry: Fr.Agnelo spent the first ten years of his priestly
life, almost buried in the recesses of the Monastery at Pilar. Like a
hermit, he lived in an atmosphere of faith and silence, and grew in the
virtue of love. Soon after his perpetual profession, Fr.Agnelo was appointed
Confessor of the students of the Seminary of Rachol on August 18, 1908, by
Dom Teotónio Manuel Ribeiro Vieira de Castro (1931-1940), Bishop of Mylapore
and Administrator of the Archdiocese of Goa. Meanwhile, he resided in the
church of Sirodá, as an Assistant to fellow-members of the Society of Pilar,
to Fr.José Nicolau Sousa, and later to Fr.Possídio Gracias, who were
successively Vicars of Sirodá. By the Decree of December 10, 1909, Fr.
Agnelo was appointed as Missionary Vicar of Kumpta in North Kanara (now in
the diocese of Karwar), by the new Patriarch of Goa, Dom Matheus de Oliveira
Xavier (1909-1929), and took charge of his post on January 6, 1910. He
served the missionary parish of Kumpta, for a short period of seven years,
till May 21, 1917, when he was transferred to Sanvordém in Goa, as an
Assistant to the Parish-priest, Fr.Alcuino da Costa. As a shepherd, reared
in the Goan 'susegad' milieu, Fr.Agnelo built a community of faith and a
community of love.

Maulana Ghulam Mohammed Vastanvi's endorsement of Gujarat
CM Narendra
Modihas
provoked angry reactions among fellow clerics who don't share his
views
on the politician linked to attacks on Muslims during the 2002 riots.

Vastanvi, an MBA, said in an interview to TOI that Gujarati Muslims were not
discriminated against and that ''all communities'' prosper in the state. He
called 2002 Gujarat riots ''a blemish for India'' and asked the community to
move on.

''Modi was single-handedly responsible for the riots and the deplorable
conditions of Muslims in the state,'' said Delhi's Jama Masjid chief cleric
Syed Ahmed Bukhari and asked Vastanvi to apologize to Muslims. ''Nobody who
seeks justice can reconcile with this,'' he said.

Rajya Sabha MP and leader of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Maulana Mahmud Madani said:
"It is not right to say that there is no discrimination in Gujarat because
there are still many Muslim villagers who cannot go to their villages, so
many still waiting for compensation. What about the people who were killed
and the women who were brutally murdered? A clean chit to Narendra Modi is
not acceptable."

Other community leaders tread cautiously, many declining comment on the
ground that they did not believe a Muslim cleric could issue such an "insane
and ridiculous statement" or issue a certificate to the administration of a
man who was anathema even as late as the Bihar elections when chief minister
Nitish Kumar had not agreed to Modi campaigning in the state for fear of
losing Muslim votes.

Vastanvi's comments. ''I'm worried for the institution (Darul Uloom,
Deoband). It's unfortunate and shameful that a person occupying such a high
office has said this when civil society groups are tirelessly working to
bring the (Gujarat riots) guilty to book,'' said Farooqui. ''Why should
anybody talk on behalf of Modi who has never expressed remorse for 2002?''
He said Vastanvi should instead concentrate on strengthening the
institution.

Jamia Millia Islamia University's Islamic studies department head Akhtarul
Wassey said anger over the riots has subsided, but there is no way the
community can forget them. ''Even (former Prime Minister) Atal Behari
Vajpayee did not give Modi a clean chit when he asked him to follow
rajdharma (in 2002),'' he said and added that it's ''unfortunate and
shameful'' that a Muslim leader is now giving Modi that certificate.

Leading Lucknow cleric and AIMPLB member Maulana Khalid Rasheed dismissed
Vastanvi's comments as ''individual perception'' and alleged that
development and prosperity in Gujarat had come at the cost of bloodbaths and
massacres of the minority. ''We cannot appreciate anything for which blood
of innocents is used. This is haraam (forbidden),'' he said.
