[Goanet] Wagh roars, says Goa not British colony
PORVORIM: BJP MLA Vishnu Waghhttp://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Vishnu-Wagh on Wednesday took strong exception to British MPJohn McDonnellhttp://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/John-McDonnell-(footballer) tabling an early date motion calling upon the British government to urge the Goa government to initiate various measures, including capping of mining activity, to prevent further damage to the environment. Raising the issue in the Goa assembly, Wagh deplored the development saying, We are no more part of the British colony. We know how to tackle any situation and we don't need a foreign country to tell us. The St Andre MLA referred to an exclusive Times of India report stating the British MP has given a notice in the UK parliament to raise the mining issue in Goa. Condeming the motion moved in the British parliament, Wagh said, We don't want interference from any country. Let us maintain our rights and sovereignty. Wagh called on chief ministerManohar Parrikarhttp://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Manohar-Parrikar to take cognizance of the development. The MP has raised the issue after he was briefed by Carmen Mirandahttp://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Carmen-Miranda, a non-resident Goan based in UK, about large-scale mining and immense damage caused to the state's ecology. The early date motion (EDM) tabled by McDonnell has been uploaded on the British parliament website. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/goa/Wagh-roars-says-Goa-not-British-colony/articleshow/15038089.cms -- DEV BOREM KORUM Gabe Menezes.
[Goanet] UK Goa Mining Motion
http://www.epaperoheraldo.in/Details.aspx?id=5874boxid=3301262uid=dat=7/19/2012 This is with reference to the recent press coverage of San Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh condemning the UK House moving Motion on Goa’s Environmental Destruction. Whilst we can appear patriotic by doing the latter, I actually think that the actual proof of patriotism is speaking out and doing something to immediately address environmental destruction of our land, which has now reached disastrous proportions in Goa. It is common knowledge that Goa is being destroyed and we really need do some serious introspection. Today the very future of Goa, its environment and water resources is at stake, and I think if the Central/Local Government is not being able to address the severity of the issue, then activists have no option but to go International. Our local politicians may have a point that the UK House should not interfere, then in which case maybe we should involve the United Nations and Major World Environmental Agencies. India represents itself at major world climate change conventions, appearing that we want to work for preserving the world’s environment but the Goa example proves that it is simply pure hypocrisy!! [Goanet] SMILE.......................... IT'S WEEKEND (19/07/2012)
YES TO... A woodcutter (Xembu) was cutting a branch of a tree above a river, his Axe fell into the river. When he cried out, the Lord of river appeared and asked:- Lord: Why are you crying? Xembu: My axe has fallen into water and I need the Axe to make my living. The Lord went down into the water and reappeared with a golden Axe. Lord: Is this your Axe? Xembu: No! The Lord again went down and came up with a silver Axe. Lord: Is this your Axe? Xembu: No!! The Lord went down again and came up with an iron Axe. Lord: Is this your Axe? Xembu: Yes! The Lord was pleased with the man’s honesty and gave him all three Axes to keep, and the woodcutter (Xembu)went home happy. Sometime later Xembu was walking with his wife along the riverbank, and his wife fell into the river. When he cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked him: Lord: Why are you crying? Xembu: Oh Lord, my wife has fallen into the water! The Lord went down into the water and came up with Priyanka Chopra Lord: Is this your wife? Xembu: Yes my Lord... yes!!! Lord: (furious) You lied! That is not true! Xembu: Oh, forgive me, my Lord. It is a misunderstanding. You see, if I had said ‘NO’ to Priyanka Chopra, you would have come up with Katrina Kaif. Then if I said ‘NO’ to her, you would have come up with my wife . Had I then said ‘YES, you would have given me all three. Lord, I am a poor man, and am not able to take care of all three wives, so that’s why I said yes to Priyanka Chopra!!! Cajetan de Sanvordem Kuwait.

[Goanet] Fw: Guwahati Molestation Incident
- Forwarded Message - From: John Gomes johnericgo...@yahoo.com To: Goanet Org goa...@goanet.org Sent: Wednesday, 18 July 2012 12:27 PM Subject: Guwahati Molestation Incident The molestation of a girl in Guwahati is now big news and with all the media reportage, I cannot understand why the victim has been absolutely whisked away without noting her complete side of the story, neither are the two boys and girls she was with been interviewed nor her friends at the pub or their parents or those of the culprits, and that should be bigger news than what is being bandied about! What about the altercation in the bar and/or the bouncers/people who are alleged to have thrown them out?The fact that this happened as early as 9.30 PM on the busy GS road with the free for all stripping and molesting of teen aged girl is a shameful indication of where our society and governance is heading! The case is complicated with a powerful Ministers wife owning the channel that is responsible for filming and airing the same. Many questions are being asked regarding how the mob permitted close filming and even helped in doing so!The ethics of news reporting for TRPs and police action/behaviour is also under the scanner. In the meantime real investigation and justice suffers. Social behaviour starts with parental guidance, morality of the citizens and civilised behaviour with respect for women and the laws of the land. When we are unable to ensure that the lawmakers and those who implement the law are morally upright people, society is doomed.
[Goanet] Press Note
UNITED GOANS DEMOCRATIC PARTY 2nd Floor, Casa dos Aliados, Abade Faria Road, Margao, Goa. * * * * Date: 18th July, 2012 * * *PRESS NOTE* * * The long delayed report of the Shah Commission which has severely indicted RSS Activist and former Congress Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, is a surprise to no one. As said before, appointment of Commission of Enquiry is like going to the toilet. First there is a sitting then there is a report and finally the matter is dropped. It is almost certain that small fry in the mining department, would be sacrificed and the big fish will continue to thrive, in the cesspool of corruption. The Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, will look upon the report as an opportunity, to settle scores with Digambar Kamat, for having betrayed him and brought him down, as Chief Minister, not very long ago, and later usurped the chair. However, the RSS roots of Digambar Kamat will save him, as historically, the RSS has always protected its pracharaks, no matter what their political colour is. Moreover, most of the mine owners who are responsible for the corruption are either directly linked with RSS or are their financiers. Hence, the Shah Commission Report is going to be flushed down and end up in the septic tank, as happens after the use of a toilet. (RADHARAO F.GRACIAS) Vice President - UGDP

Tony, don't feel bad about it. Diaspora Goans more than you folks in Goa feel the loss of innocence and beauty of those times. However the truth is, there have always been evil men and their exploitation of children, criminal, sexual and otherwise. Its just that in those days it was severely punished and not so well known by the community. We now know that punishment is usually ineffective for such deviants. They mostly re-offend when their prison terms end. There are many documented cases of perpetrators asking to be chemically castrated because simply put, they have no control over their intent. The only solution if you call it that, is to take care of your children and don't totally trust even people who may be close to you when you see them throwing up those red flags. Roland. Toronto. Tony de Sa posted in Goanet I have been doing voluntary work with an organization called Children's Rights in Goa (CRG) Specifically I am scanning their records and storing them digitally. Among some of the records I am scanning are their files of news paper reports which are classified variously like child abuse, child abuse murder, child abuse sexual and so on. It is inevitable that I read some of the stories that I am scanning. It sickens the heart when you read of a 62 year old man raping a 2 year old girl, or a tuition teacher (lady in this case) sexually assaulting a 9 year old boy, the rapes of young girls by neighbours, uncles, migrants and so on. These same stories in the newspaper are overshadowed by other stories. But when they are put together as a collection, it is heart breaking. In the course of the scanning, I came upon the whole Scarlette Keeling story. It was clearly evident that somebody was shielding the main culprit(s). To think that our pristine Goa has come down to this, saddens me greatly. An era has slipped by us. The Goa of the sixties and seventies and even the eighties will never come back. A sarcastic benison** from MP Keith Vaz.: Keith Vaz of the Labour Party, the longest-serving Asian MP in Britain, and chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee, was even more scathing. When Buckles told the committee that he was “disappointed”, Vaz replied that’s what he usually felt when his football team didn’t win. “Isn’t there a better word?” asked Vaz sarcastically. http://tehelka.com/story_main53.asp?filename=hub280712London.asp **bessao (blessing) +++ vjp
