[Goanet] THE GOA POLICE SHOULD ALSO ROPE IN DR SHEKHAR SALKAR INTO THE GCA DRAGNET

2016-06-19 Thread Aires Rodrigues
The Goa Cricket Association has been in the news for the wrong reasons. No
one involved in any wrong doings must be spared. It is however surprising
that the known Cancer quack Dr. Shekhar Salkar who was last year bowled out
from the GCA has escaped the probe into his very disturbing fraudulent
illegalities of corruption and manipulation. Amongst other allegations Dr
Shekhar Salkar is accused of withdrawing 55.8 lakhs from the GCA funds to
pay the lawyers he had hired to try and cover up his fraudulent acts.

Dr Shekhar Salkar who belongs to the ruling BJP has stooped low in even
faking his qualifications. There needs to be stern action against those
hospitals taking patients for a ride by falsely and misleadingly projecting Dr
Shekhar Salkar as an Oncosurgeon and Oncologist.

Dr Shekhar Salkar is not qualified to proclaim himself to be an Oncosurgeon
or Oncologist. He does not possess the required requisite qualification
approved by the Medical Council of India. He does not have a super
specialty diploma or degree of M.Ch (Master of Chirurgiae), DNB (Diplomate
of National Board), or DM (Doctorate in Medicine).

There ought to also be a thorough probe into Dr Shekhar Salkar’s affairs at
the Goa Cancer Society and National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication
(NOTE). The Manipal Hospital must also come under the scanner. It is very
appalling that such a tainted quack is the President of Goa State Medical
Council. Amen

[Goanet] Late Manohar Dhond Memorial All Goa Major Ranking Badminton Tournament – Day 3 report and highlights

2016-06-19 Thread Sandeep Heble
Late Manohar Dhond Memorial All Goa Major Ranking Badminton
Tournament(Indoor stadium, Campal)

Day 3 report and highlights

Day 3 has ended. And what an amazing day it has been, full of some super
exciting matches. Here's a roundup of the matches played on June 18 at
Indoor stadium, Campal.

Women Singles semis
The evening session began with top seed Anjana Kumari facing Emilia
Silveira(4) while Pranjal Chimulkar, seeded No 2, pitted up against Anar
Singbal(3). As expected, both the matches were close contests with none of
the four players willing to give an inch to the other. There was a striking
similarity in both these matches which saw lengthy rallies and hard fought
three set battles. In the end, the seeds prevailed with Anjana winning
21-16, 18-21, 21-14 while Pranjal emerging triumphant in an even closer
18-21, 22-20, 21-16 score line.

Women’s Singles semis results
Anjana Kumari(1) bt Emilia Silveira(4) 21-16, 18-21, 21-14
Pranjal Chimulkar(2) bt Anar Singbal(3) 18-21, 22-20, 21-16

Men's singles semis
Aashrun Gautam's fine run in Men's Singles came to an end as he lost to
second seed Floyd Araujo in what was a cracker of a contest. Aashrun won
the first set 21-17 and was match point up at 21-20 but in his eagerness to
close off the game quickly, he made a number of errors with Floyd
capitalizing in an excellent percentage game played by him. Boosted by the
presence of his family to egg him on and some good crowd support, Floyd
staged a brilliant comeback to win the second set 23-21 and the next one
was relatively easy at 21-10 as Aashrun completely went on to lose his
momentum. Credit to the way Floyd played this game despite looking like he
was struggling with his fitness in the third and a pat on the back for
Aashrun as well who gave a good account of himself in this tournament and
giving the Mens players a run for their money.
In the other semis top seed Parteek Mahajan was nursing an injury but
nevertheless proved too strong as he eased his way past an error prone
Karan Dhavaskar winning 21-15, 21-9. Karan, the young shuttler from
Sanquelim, who reached his maiden semis, should be reasonably satisfied
with his performance in this tournament. With the Sanquelim stadium under
renovation for quite a long time now, this has been a good reward for the
efforts taken by him to travel and practise at Panjim which he has been
doing since last many days.

Men's Singles semis results:
Parteek Mahajan(1) bt Karan Dhawaskar(8) 21-15, 21-9
Floyd Araujo(2) bt Aashrun Gautam(7) 17-21, 23-21, 21-10

Men’s Doubles
Top seeds Sunny Sawant and Navneet Nasnodkar, playing together the first
time as partners, entered the finals as number 4 seeds Parteek Mahajan and
Parag Chauhan conceded the match. Parteek, nursing a ligament injury, took
a risk of playing his Mens semis but he was clearly in no position to play
the Mens doubles against much more formidable opponents. He will have the
night to try and get himself back in shape for the Mens finals tomorrow
against a resurgent Floyd.

In the second semis, there was a minor upset with Floyd and Darwin Barreto
edging out Pankaj Naik and Sanath Kamat 21-9, 12-21, 21-17. Pankaj, the
former state champion, has made it a habit of winning doubles titles with
different partners but today the script turned out to be different in yet
another edge-of-the-seat contest.

Veterans 45+ Doubles semis
Rohan Panandikar and Ayub C.K. justified their top billing as they smashed
their way to a comfortable 21-12, 21-12 win over Dr Manish Patel and
Valusiano D. The other semis was a contrasting one, a see saw battle with
fortunes fluctuating from set to set. The number two seeds Oscar Silveira
and Leonel Fernandes have had to endure some difficult matches in the whole
tournament and the semis too went on similar lines. They were given a tough
fight by Wilfred Jacques and Manoj Humraskar before prevailing to a 21-14,
12-21, 21-12 win.

Women’s Singles Finals
Yes, with Anjana Kumari all geared up to participate at the All India
Ranking Tournament in Trivandrum, one finals was lined up today. The young
Vasco girl who has worked hard to attain the numero uno ranking in Under 19
and Women was up against Pranjal Chimulkar. And what a performance it was
by Pranjal, the graceful left hander from Ponda who trains at the Bangalore
Academy. The first set was hard fought but it was a dominant performance
overall with Pranjal recording a 21-16, 21-7 win to regain her status as
Goa’s highest ranked player in women’s category. The girls have done Goa
proud over last few years and kudos to all of them once again, for yet
another remarkable show.

The grand finale
The Finals will be played on Sunday, June 19, 5 pm onwards at Indoor
Stadium, Campal and it is going to be yet another exciting day with tough
matches lined up. Floyd Araujo, Navneet Nasnodkar, Sunny Sawant and Pranjal
Chimulkar are all poised to win the double crowns. For those who are
around, don’t miss these matches. Hoping to see you all

[Goanet] PORTUGUESE CONSULATE CLOSURE DEMANDS SUDIN ; WILL HE ALSO BE CLOSED?

2016-06-19 Thread Stephen Dias
ANSWER TO SUDIN; WILL THE EDITOR PUBLISH THIS?
Why Sudin playing tricks with two parties in hand, that BJP and MGP. Let
him go to his parent organization that is MGP and then talk of closure of
Portuguese Consulate.
Why he has accepted migrants people to work in PWD in his portfolio, from
other States? Better make some kind of passport/card for them as they come
to Goa to work, and nobody knows their identity and they start with
malpractices like crimes , rapes, thefts etec. Police cannot track them on
account of no identity and some of them having bogus identity. Malaria
diseases are spread by these migrants who stays in huts, with no shelter
and on roadside, without any proper hygiene and toilets. Goans go to
Europe for better jobs as no such employment is available in Goa and those
ghantis from other states work for a meager salary as our Goan jobs is
taken by them. That is the reason some Goans go abroad to work mostly for
ordinary jobs but get good pay. What is the problem for Sudin, and why is
he interfering with Portuguese consulate closure, if Goans earns well
abroad? Let Modi Government do that job. Goans will never stay abroad
permanently as they too will come back to their motherland one day.
Once roads and buildings constructions in Goa are saturated, these
migrants will also go back to their own state. Let him first look after
his disgraceful portfolio PWD which is a corrupt department.
If he still demands or insist closure of Portuguese consulate, than it is
better that he himself is closed once for all from BJP party.

* QUOTE FROM HERALD:*

*Sudin demands Portuguese Consulate closure*

Team Herald PONDA: Public Works Department Minister Ramkrishna ( Sudin)
Dhavalikar on Friday demanded that the Portuguese Consulate in the Goa be
closed down in order to prevent Goans from opting for dual citizenship as
this will reduce the number of Goans.

He was speaking at the Goa Revolution Day function at Kranti Maidan.

Dhavalikar said that he has been opposing the Portuguese Consulate in Goa
for the last five years, but a lot of people criticised him alleging that
he was politicising the issue.

“ I still say that the Portuguese Consulate in Goa should be closed to keep
back the sons of the soil who are going abroad and accepting foreign
citizenship.

I have been opposing the consulate to protect the interest of Goans and to
preserve Goenkarponn. Around 1.30 lakh persons have accepted dual
citizenship which the Indian Constitution does not permit. Everyday around
50 passports are made at Portuguese Consulate in Goa. I demand the closure
of the Portuguese Consulate to protect Goenkarponn,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Sammrat Club felicitated freedom fighters on the occasion of
Goa Revolution Day at a special function at Panaroma, Ponda. PWD Minister
Ramkrishna ( Sudin) Dhavalikar felicitated freedom fighters Pandurang
Kuncoliekar, Audumbar Shinkre, Govind Chimulkar, Kamlakant Dhamaskar,
Shridhar Verenkar and Gokuldas Davlikar.

[Goanet] 4.5 tonne mangoes seized in Bicholim

SANKHALI: The department of food and drugs administration (FDA) seized
mangoes weighing 4.5 tonne, worth around Rs 90,000, in a raid at
Jogiwada near Bicholim industrial estate on Saturday. The raid was
conducted as the mangoes were stored for letting artificial ripening
of the fruit using a chemical.

According to officials, an unknown person had informed them about the
illegality happening in the area. The officials found that mangoes
were stored in two rented rooms by a person named Jafar and a chemical
was used for ripening the fruit. The entire stock was seized by the
officials and the chemical used was also found.

A team comprising Raju Korade, Richard Noronha, Mahadev Kavlekar and
Ankita Bhalekar carried out the raid.

The officials informed that such raids were also conducted at Mapusa

such chemically-ripened mangoes which are injurious to health.

[Goanet] GFDO Press Note

2016-06-19 Thread Edwin/Diana Pinto
June 17th, 2016

GFDO PRESS STATEMENT

GFDO congratulates Chief Minister Parsekar on his success in convincing Prime
Minister Modi to come down to Goa to lay the foundation stone for the proposed
International Airport at Mopa. However the people of Goa would like to know if
Mr. Parsekar communicated to the PM that the Mopa Airport project is facing
stiff opposition from the people of Goa and is embroiled in three court cases.
Two of these cases have been filed with the National Green Tribunal in Pune,
presenting the various unaddressed environmental concerns of the people and
disputing the validity and the integrity of the EIA, based upon which this
contentious project is sought to be imposed.

There have also been many doubts raised about the legality of the land
acquisition process itself of the Government for this project which have also
been left unaddressed by the State Government. A third case entitled “Hanuman
Laxman Aroskar & others versus The State of Goa and others” has been filed
questioning the land acquisition process of the Government and is pending in
the Supreme Court of India before the SLP (Civil), filed vide Diary
No.9699/2014.

GFDO said that if Mr. Modi is aware of the nebulous foundation based upon which
the Mopa Airport project is sought to be built, then it appears to be highly
unbefitting for a Prime Minister to be perceived as setting his seal of
approval on such a project mired in controversy, until the doubts have been
addressed and laid to rest. In fact, the well founded suspicion that the
proposed Mopa Airport project is just another land grab attempt by various
interested parties has been further substantiated by the Defence Minister’s U
turn in demanding 5 acres of land for the Indian Navy at Mopa, in addition to
the complete control it presently holds over Dabolim Airport.

In fact GFDO recalls that the request for land at Mopa for the Navy, which was
part of NOC granted by the Central Government for the Mopa project, was
rejected by the Goa Government a few months ago. Hence CM Parsekar needs to
explain the reason for this latest U turn to the people of Goa without
apparently taking even his Cabinet into confidence. It may be recalled that in
May 2013, Mr Parrikar had publicly declared that he would be writing to the
Prime Minister about shifting the Navy entirely to Mopa and leaving Dabolim
entirely for civilian operations. It is regrettable that today, being part of
the Central Cabinet, and having command of the Defence Establishment, he has
inexplicably changed his stand.
