'Acche Din' Was Manmohan Singh's Quote, We Are Stuck With It: Nitin
Gadkari
www.ndtv.com
Joking that the BJP was saddled with the phrase "Acche Din" or good times,
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today credited Manmohan Singh with using it first.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi borrowed it from his predecessor, Mr Gadkari said
at an event in Mumbai.

MUMBAI:
HIGHLIGHTS

  1. Nitin Gadkari credited Manmohan Singh using 'Acche Din' first.
  2. It is a bone stuck in our throat, Nitin Gadkari said.
  3. Acche Din was a top keyword in BJP's campaign in 2014 national election.

"It is Modi-ji's who told us...when Manmohan Singh was PM, he used it, and now
it is stuck to us so much that everyone shouts - when will there be "Acche
Din," Mr Gadkari said while responding to a question at an event organized by
the newspaper Lokmat Times.

"It is a bone stuck in our throat. Our country is such an ocean of dissatisfied
souls that Acche Din never come...media should not misinterpret me...Those who
have cycles want scooters, and those who have scooters want cars. It is not
wrong, but the wealthy are dissatisfied too."

The minister traced the etymology to a Delhi conference, when, he said, Dr
Singh promised Acche Din in the future in response to questions from NRIs.
"Then Modi-ji said it somewhere and it got stuck to us. Still, I believe that
Acche Din means people have good expectations," said Mr Gadkari.

The promise of Acche Din was a top keyword in BJP's campaign for the 2014
national election. But the phrase deemed a big hit with voters has since been
mocked by opposition parties and BJP critics to target the government on what
they call unfulfilled promises.

Recently, comedian Kapil Sharma used the phrase sarcastically while alleging
corruption in Mumbai's civic body in tweets tagging PM Modi.

[Goanet] Cell Towers radiation

Doctors in Goa should not interfere giving statement in the press on Cell

Scientists prove there are radiation in the air emited by Cell Towers and
that nobody controls on transmission power generated by these Cell Towers
who do not want to follow the International and other agencies
guidelines. There are specific range limit of amplitude power for
transmission to be adopted which the service providers do not follow.
The transmission power is varied as per their own whims and fancies and the

Re: [Goanet] The many scandals of Donald Trump.

2016-09-13 Thread Jim Fernandes

This link has many scandals in which Trump is alleged to be involved in - some
of which were unknown to me as well. Some may be outright true and other's may
be debatable.

But the fact of the matter is that both candidates are NOT exactly 'Gods' and
such links will not change the mind of a voter who has already made up his/her
mind in the 44+ states and territories - the ones that are outside the realm of
"Battle Ground" states.

American politics is mostly a duopoly - where the vast majority of Americans
normally side with the party they are deeply entrenched with. Which means, for
the most part, the states that normally side with their party base will not
change the outcome of the elections.

For example, both Trump as well as Hillary live in New York. Therefore, one
might think that NY is a battle ground state. But that is hardly the case. I
live in New York as well - in fact I live less than 15 miles from Hillary's
house. Given the history on how NY votes, there is near zero chance that Trump
will win New York state. Which means, my vote for Trump will not count.

American elections are mostly decided by a handful of what are known as "Battle
Ground" states. Any candidate who wins the majority of these five or six states
is the likely winner of the White House.

I believe the upcoming debates will help voters in battle ground states decide
who they will cast their votes to. Regardless of what the pollsters say - Relax
and hold your breath - It's not a slam dunk for Hillary just yet.

side won)

[Goanet] Goa Tourism Master Plan 2016: who are masters? Who are slaves?

2016-09-13 Thread Sebastian
www.bharatmukti.blogspot.in/2016/09/goa-tourism-master-plan-2016-who-are.html

Press release: Goa Tourism Master Plan

This interim tourism Master Plan and Policy was put up on
websitewww.goatourism.gov.in on 24th August 2016

Module 3 last date for comments was 4th September 2016. Objections were to be
mailed to goatourismmasterp...@gmail.com

Public was given 16 days for comments, pretty atrocious by any standards.

Bharat Mukti Morcha objects following and shares here for public awareness
purpose:

1. Page 15: Consider the entire State as tourism development area. Culture
of Goa is fishing and agriculture. It must be protected from tourism at all
costs.

2. Page 23: Fishermen Market and F Court at Britona, Siridao and Mobor.
Captioned as Goa’s number one source of fresh sea food.” Domestic consumers of
fish to be deprived as fish will be costly and with demands from tourism.

3. Page 24: High End music venue paired with luxury lifestyle resort in
Baga, Calangute and Candolim Beach with biggest clubs in India in one of these
three beaches.

4. Page 24: High end lifestyle beach club paired with luxury lifestyle
resort at Cavelossim, Palolem, Arambol, Vagathor and Anjuna Beach with day and
night atmosphere of music.

5. Page 25: Eco-beach (Resort): Pure Eco-beach and Eco Resorts at Querim,
Mandrem, and Morjim in Pernem and Agonda, Patnem and Palolem, Talpona and
Galgibag beach. Captioned as “Built in harmony with nature and hence with minor
impact on environment.”

6. Page 25: Marinas in Mandovi river at Britonna, Nauxi Bay and Chicalim.
Fishermen directly affected. There is already opposition to the same from 2010.

7. Page 31: Cultural Events, Music day and night atmosphere. Actually
there will be drinks and food. This must not be allowed where St. Francis
Xavier walked. Old Goa is a place of religious sanctity. This must be rejected,
and Religious values must not be hurt.

8. Page 32: Goa Multicultural experience at Old Goa Church. Has office of
the Archbishop of Goa endorsed this? Or is it another scam like Vanxim sale?
For the said purpose the Archeology Survey of India has given permission? As it
is place of complete sanctify of high religious values.

9. Page 36: Discovery River Cruises: Chapora River, Cumbharjua canal,
Mandovi River and Zuari River. Tourism has already caused irreversible damage
to Goa’s beaches. Fishermen are to be directly impacted through dredging as
well as tourism through boat rides.

10. Page 37: Divar island along with eastern Goa has been demarcated for “Slow
Movement Wellness centres”. There is already one such centre in Divar that
releases its effluent in Mandovi river near Vanxim. Tourism Master Plan is
silent on what is to be done with such cases. In module 2 page nos 47 & 48 in
fact names this entity as Devaaya – Ayurveda and Nature Cure Centre. Can
continues daily release of effluents in Mandovi river part of its ethics? Part
of Tourism Department ethics? Daily release of effluents gives out obnoxious
odor to people around as well as staff of Ferry services plying between Vanxim
and Divar.

11. Page 37: Nature Sanctuaries to be opened up for tourism. This is disruption
of wild life. The question about cordoning off access to forest for tribal
people and blockade to through digging of trenches to prevent cattle grazing of
tribal people has been kept under wraps.

12. Page 42: Waterfront Promenades (dancing floors on land at water’s edge)
at Old Goa, Chapora, Panjim, Mayem lake and Colva beach. This is a must to stop
as it would cause lot of social damage to everyone especially the youth.

13. Page 42: Family Entertainment District inclusive of Themed Park. Entire
Pernem Taluka is marked with pointer towards proposed Mopa Airport and termed
as “District”. Goa already has two districts. Is Pernem going to be third
district? Are People of Goa taken in confidence on declaring Pernem Taluka as
third district? Captioned as “A leisure and entertainment hub for the family
offering a themed park, F, shopping, and accommodation.” Pernem already has
Golf Course proposal in Tiracol along with luxury hotel of Leading Hotels. Mopa
airport EIA records plans for Golf Course in Mopa itself. Luxury hotels are
shown in beaches of Pernem a Querim, Mandrem, and Morjim.

14. Page 43: Chapora Bay and Chicalim Bay has been proposed asGaming
districts. This means Panjim off shore casinos will be shifted at these two
venues. Two areas will be marked exclusively for casinos and this is direct
blow to fishing allied activities.

15. Page 43: Up-gradation of nightlife across Goa. People of Goa must be
prepared to go without sleep. Night life must be stopped completely as it is
destruction of Youth. Many Youth are hooked on drugs due to such night life
parties. Even school students are attracted to this menace.

16. Page 44: Golf Course at Mopa. There is already opposition to Golf Courses
in

[Goanet] UK - Goan MP Keith Vaz (response to Gilbert Lawrence by Rose Fernandes)

2016-09-13 Thread Melvyn Fernandes
Gilbert

Understanding the content of my posting will give you the capability of solving
any riddles.

The term "gutter" comes from a goanet posting written by Melvyn Fernandes on
the 1 January 2013 as shown in quotes below:

Quote
Subject: Will 2013 get us out of the gutter?

Dear readers

Having just enjoyed a wonderful evening in London, United Kingdom, bringing in
2013 what struck me most was when wishing a "Happy New Year" to
everyone, this was going to be just that "A WISH".

Let me explain, only yesterday I was advised that "gutter" politics had been
used in the form of "text" messages to patrons wishing to attend the function
organised by Viva Goa Entertainments in Harrow (who partly fund the
administrative support for handicapped children in Goa) informing them it had
been cancelled. This strategy could only be to steer patrons away so that they
could buy tickets for another well established organisation which I can only
describe as Helping Poor Children Stay Poor as, having been a community worker
in the last 35 years, I have never seen any accountability publically for this
fund raising event in the name of charity. Both organisers may wish to comment
and share their views with us.

Usually one would target those indulging in such activities and expose them for
the world to see but not on this occasion. Our entire community needs to take
collective responsibility for such behaviour, those that indulge in such
activities and equally all the rest of us who have and are still continuing to
allow such behaviour to thrive unchecked, unaccountable and unchallenged not
just in the United Kingdom but in other parts of our world. Will there ever be
a day when our community comes out of the "gutter" into the light, when our
faith can be honestly reflected in all the things we do?

In the Bible, Matthew (12:33) recorded what Christ said "You brood of vipers!
how can you speak good, when you are evil?"

In addition to 2013 being the Year of Faith, perhaps it can also be a start of
honesty and reflection in our thoughts, words and deeds to get us all out of
the gutter we continually find ourselves in.

Re: [Goanet] UK - Goan MP Keith Vaz (response to Frederick Noronha by Rose Fernandes)

2016-09-13 Thread Jim Fernandes

Wow!

This is the second time I am hearing in as many weeks - somewhat similar
sentiments from Goan folks in the UK. There must be some element of truth to
this.

I heard the new arrivals (straight from Goa) to the UK with Portuguese
passports are ruining Goa's reputation. I can understand someone moving to
greener pastures for jobs and making an honest living. But for families to
migrate en masse to another country and straigh-away claim benefits, free or
government subsidized housing, dole and other government assistance? I thought
this was something foreign to Goan blood.

The word I am hearing is that these newbies are becoming the new "ghanttis" of
the UK. One thing is for sure ... when I visit my brother in Croydon in
December (who BTW did not migrate to the UK on Portuguese passport), I won't
say to people there that I am a Goan I'd rather call myself a "Bomboicar".

Dear friends,

As we enter this second week of the Season of
Creation,
we are celebrating wins and mourning losses. The United States and China, the
world’s largest emitters of greenhouse gases, formally joined the Paris climate
agreement last week. We now hope this will inspire at least 28 more
countries
to ratify the treaty in order for it to come into force.

Unfortunately, the North Pole is experiencing rapid signs of global
warming,
as broken ice and open waters inch closer from multiple directions. We hold
these realities of our planet tenderly, as we continue to celebrate the Season
of Creation.

We invite you to join us this week in spending some time in nature and
celebrating the many creatures that “give glory to God by their very existence”
(Laudato Si). Several opportunities are listed below, to dive deeper into Pope
Francis’ powerful words.

In prayer and action,

Christina on behalf of the
GCCM
 Team

PRAY: GOING OUTSIDE WITH INTENTION

Thursday’s Laudato Si prayer session, Sr. Margaret Galiardi, OP guided us
through the prayer practice of going outside with the intention of
“discover[ing] God in all things.” (LS, 233) It is an invitation to walk slowly
and mindfully, bringing awareness to the senses, and pausing to be with
whatever you encounter outside. As she said, “This practice is to meet and
greet and experience and rest in this Divine presence which is to be found ‘in
the slightest detail in the seamless garment of God’s creation, in the last
speck of dust of our planet.” (Laudato Si, 9).

Invitation: Find 15 minutes this weekend or later during the week, when you can
practice going outside with intention allowing yourself to “embrace the God who
has embraced you in all things.” You can read the transcript from Sr.
Margaret’s mediation or watch it
here.
Then join us this Thursday for our next Laudato Si Prayer Session with Janet
O’Sullivan: see more details
here.

REFLECT: THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THOUSANDS OF SPECIES

Pope Francis’ September 1 message “Show Mercy to our Common
Home”
he said that “each creature has its own intrinsic value that must be
respected." All of us probably know this, having had some kind of special
experience when seeing an animal in the wild, or playing with our favorite pet.

Yet 150 species go extinct

each day. In response to this loss of biodiversity, Pope Francis says,
“thousands of species will no longer give glory to God by their very existence,
nor convey their message to us. We have no such right." (LS,33)

Invitation: Take 5 minutes this weekend (or later during the week) to view this
photo gallery of
species
which have gone extinct, or are close to extinction. Reflect on the tremendous
loss of life and the consequences it will have for our current and future
generations in light of the Pope’s words. Then pray for the courage of all
people to look for ways to stop this mass extinction.

ACT: HOST A SEASON OF CREATION EVENT

loved seeing the pictures pour in from the different Season of Creation
events. From painted paper lanterns of the earth to walks out in nature, the
response has been inspiring.

Eric,

Call girl?

You sound like a desperate Clinton supporter. If you have something flattering
to say, at least first check out the authenticity of your information.

In case you have been living on the moon ... Please check out this link:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3769798/Melania-Trump-retraction.html

As for who has better 'Taste', I would give it to Mrs Clinton in a pico-second.
At least she likes sticking with a man who was HARD at work digging the tunnel
with a cigar!

And that too in the White House

You understand what I am saying?

Considering the gaffes Trump has been delivering, if it was any other
Democratic party contender, the election would have already been in the bag for
Democrats. But at this point though, Trump still has a decent shot at winning
this thing.

(Don't get me wrong - Mr Clinton is one of my favorite US Presidents. But its
not cool when people talk rubbish).
