More wishful thinking from sore losers.

How immature this dude really is! 

Now he is crying 'the sky is falling down' regarding the failure of a passage 
of the health care law! Nobody expects 100% smooth sail in politics. This is 
what democracy is about. I have said before, the Republicans can only work to 
make it better. Not the other way around. 

I am still a big fan of Obamacare even though the law did not manage to rein in 
insurance premiums - something I was really banking on. Even with more people 
insured. the existing law did not bring down premiums. Without additional help 
from the federal government, the law will definitely collapse in the coming 
years, as it needs financial support from the federal government to continue 
subsidizing the premiums for lower income groups. Get yourself educated on the 
negative pitfalls of Obamacare. The law needs changes - not a complete re-write.

Look up here on what I wrote back in 2010 regarding Obamacare. I even had the 
foresight to say that the law would need tweaking in the future. Reading this, 
you will notice I am neither pro-Democrats nor pro-Republicans:

One of the things I know of Trump is that he hates to lose. The guy is a 
fighter - not a nincompoop. He has zero characteristics of some of the sore 
losers on GoaNet. I am sure, some day he'll sign a modified health bill that 
will be great for Americans and when he does that, I'll give this loser a nice 
opportunity to slap this post back on his sorry face.

There has never been a single political event where this dude's forecasts have 
been right.

It is fairly obvious that Trump has all of the worst possible
character flaws that any human being can ever have. There are two nice
euphemistic Konknni words that best describe him - rostad and ordinar.
He is therefore also attractive to people who have similar attributes.
Unfortunately, such people succeed in dirty politics and privately
owned fraudulent businesses. Above all, he is a pathological liar as
Bernie Sanders never fails to mention. That is why those who believe
anything he says or promises are ignorant fools. But I believe he is
powerless in doing any major harm as a result of his ignorance and
mendacity. The system as a whole is too resilient. Here is a nice

turn, which is on a steep descend,...

PANAJI: Twenty five first-year students of the Goa College of Architecture,
Altinho, Panaji, were injured in a bus accident at Curca, Bambolim, on
Friday afternoon. The bus in which the students were travelling hit a tree
and the compound wall of St Anne Church at Talaulim after the brakes of the
bus failed.

Speaking to TOI, Goa College of Architecture principal Ashish Rege said
that the 39 students along with two faculty members, driver and cleaner
were on a routine site visit to St Anne Church at Talaulim when the
accident took place.

Rege said that all the 39 students and faculty members were shifted to the
Goa Medical College (GMC) and hospital's casualty ward for treatment.
Except four students, all others were discharged after treatment. The bus
driver sustained major injuries, while the two faculty members and cleaner
got minor injuries.

Agasaim police station PI Santosh Desai said when the bus reached the sharp
turn, which is on a steep descend, at Curca, the bus brakes failed and the
bus reached the edge of the road and hit a tree, before hitting the
compound of St Anne Church.

Even as the Goa State Human Rights Commission on Monday ordered
 the North Goa
Collector to liaise with religious authorities to conduct the last rites of
activist Catholic priest Bismarque Dias whose body has been lying in the
morgue

of the Goa Medical College in Bambolim since his mysterious death in
November 2015, his family is preparing to challenge the move.

Dias, who was passionate about environmental causes, had been found
floating in the estuarine waters of the Mandovi river, 15 km from Panjim,
around his home island of St Estevam in North Goa on November 7, 2015. His
family believes he was murdered for his activism, which put land developers
and politicians in his village under pressure.

Dias’ family said they would bury him only after a thorough investigation
has been conducted into his death. They have set little stock in the police
investigation, which maintained that there was no foul play involved.

In July 2016, Dias’s family moved the High Court, pointing to lapses in the
police investigation and demanded that an FIR be filed. A separate petition
making the same plea was also filed by some of Bismarque’s friends.
Keeping on the pressure

One petitioner and a member of the Justice For Bismaqrque movement, *Dr
Sameer Kelekar, said that the unburied body ensures that the authorities
cannot sweep the allegations of foul play under the carpet. “The only
sticking point for them is the body, which keeps the pressure on,” Kelekar
said. “Once that is not there, it will be out of sight is out of mind.” *

Shortly after a new state government was sworn in on March 31, Additional
Collector North Goa, Sabaji Shetye sent a letter to Dias’ mother and
brother asking them to bury the body within 15 days since it was not
required for the investigation.

Acting on an application by lawyer Aires Rodrigues, the Goa State Human
Rights Commission on Monday ordered the North Goa Collector to liaise with
the village parish priest to conduct the last rites. Rodrigues told this
reporter that it was Dias’ “human right” to get a dignified burial.

However, the assistant parish priest of St Estevam has made it clear that
while they were willing to conduct the final rites for the priest, they
would not do so without the consent of the family. *For now the family is
insisting that an FIR should at least be registered, even if against
unknown persons, and a criminal investigation be pursued. They are seeking
legal advice to challenge the order of the Goa State Human Rights
Commission. *

Given the high-profile nature of the cause, it is not clear if state
authorities would risk any unilateral action.
*Postmortem reports*

The police have said they are satisfied with their investigation, which
showed no foul play. Two postmortems point the cause of death to asphyxia
due to drowning in water.

Dias was last seen alive two nights before his body was found in the
company of two boys, during a late night out on the riverside sluice gates,
where the priest is believed to have ventured into the water.

His family and friends said that Dias had only just filed a police
complaint about death threats he had been receiving from land sharks. Dias
had also filed complaints of zoning violations before the National Green
Tribunal against developers in the village, besides involving himself in a
number of land struggles across Goa.

It is lovely if one wears a Crucifix, but what matters is that one wears it for 
the right, sincere reasons…

According to Vatican Radio, Pope Francis said these words today, April 4, 2017, 
during his daily morning Mass at Casa Santa Marta, while reflecting on today’s 
reading in which Jesus says to the Pharisees: “You will die in your sins.”

“To die in your sins” Francis reminded, is a bad thing, noting that Jesus was 
compelled to used the strong words “because their hearts were closed and they 
did not understand the mystery of the Lord.”

Reflecting on the First Reading in which the Lord tells Moses to make a saraph 
serpent and mount it on a pole, the Pope said the serpent is “the symbol of the 
devil,” who caused humanity to sin.

Then Jesus, the Pope continued recalling, said: “When you lift up the Son of 
Man, then you will realize that ‘I AM,’ and that I do nothing on my own.”

This, Francis said, is the mystery of the Cross.

Not a Symbol

The Jesuit Pontiff highlighted that the bronze serpent was the sign of two 
things: “the sign of sin and of the seductive power of sin”, and it was a 
prophecy of the Cross.

The Cross, he continued, is not only a symbol of belonging, but it is the 
memory of God who was made sin for love. As Saint Paul says: “For our sake he 
made him to be sin who did not know sin.”

“Taking upon Himself all the filth of humanity,” the Pope stated, “He was 
lifted so that all men wounded by sin would be able to see Him.”

“Salvation comes only from the Cross, from this Cross that is God made flesh” 
he said.

Stressing there is no salvation in ideas, good will, or the desire to be good, 
he distinguished rather that salvation is “in the crucified Christ, because 
like the bronze serpent, He was able to take all the poison of sin and heal us.”

What’s Is the Cross for You?

“What is the Cross for you?” Francis asked those present. “Yes, it is the 
Christian symbol. We make the sign of the Cross, but often we do not do it 
well…”

He criticized that for some, the Cross is like “a badge of belonging,” which 
they wear “to show they are Christians, or even in search of visibility, they 
wear it as an ornament decorated with precious gems.”

However, the Pope reminded, whoever does not look to the Cross with faith will 
die in his sins, will not receive salvation.

“Today,” Pope Francis said, the Church proposes “a dialogue with the Mystery of 
the Cross, with God who became sin for our sake.”

“Each of us,” he continued, “can say He became sin ‘for love of me.’”

Inviting all faithful to think about how they wear the Cross and how aware they 
are when making the Sign of the Cross, Pope Francis concluded asking each of us 
“to look to this God who became sin so that we do not die in our sins,” and to 
reflect on the questions he just posed.

reflect as to the manner in which they have continued the degradation of
Goa, something that the late Satish Sonak was always very concerned and
disturbed about.

Our true tribute to this great departed soul, would be to steadfastly carry
on the great vision and mission that our Satish Sonak had embarked on.

Let us all vow to carry on the unfinished task Satish Sonak had undertaken
to Save what remains of Goa.

We will all depart this world one day, but our Goa must truly live sans all
this lip sympathy and rhetoric talk of Goem, Goenkar and Goenkarponn.

The funeral procession of our dear friend and truly Goa's watchdog Satish
