Expressing surprise that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who is a probable candidate himself had publicly declared that the dates of the by-elections would be announced in five to six days, Mr Joti has stated that he would call for an immediate report from Goa’s Chief Electoral Officer as to how such false news was allowed to be circulated. Pointing out that the bye-elections have to be completed only by 14th September, Mr. Joti stated that the Election Commission would take an appropriate decision in due course taking the current monsoon season in Goa also in consideration.
