Fausto was spot on. While undertaking a decades-overdue sorting my
collection of Goa books, I came across the late Oslando's work, *The
Christian Goan Konkani Folk and Art Songs,* once more. (We never met,
except perhaps as a kid when I distinctly recall being impressed by his
music, but knew each other from a distance.)

Since I don't want to feel like a pirate and unauthorized-ly copying his
work, I have one request to make to whoever benefits from this song from
here: kindly, at some stage, please buy a copy of the book and/or gift it
to someone who could make use of it. Community pioneers like Oslando have
done a great job in keeping the music of the community alive, and deserve
all possible support.

On 2nd August the Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar had given a very
solemn assurance to the Goa Legislative Assembly that all the roads of Goa
would be ‘pothole- free’ by Ganesh Chathurti.  The festival is here so are
all the potholes still around. Assurances by the government are all ending
up like China made goods, without a warranty nor a guarantee.

Manohar Parrikar says that he is very confident of winning the Panaji
by-election by a massive margin of over 8000 to 9000 votes and that Girish
Chodankar will definitely lose his deposit.  So  according to Manohar
Parrikar it means that Girish Chodankar would not poll even 2590 votes, the
1/6 of the total 15538 votes which by law is required to safeguard one’s
deposit.  If all this is to come true on 28th August when the votes are
counted and Manohar Parrikar is proved right, than all we can do is to sing
the last song for a doomed Goa.


Any further struggle to Save what remains of Goa would well be an exercise
in futility. After all people choose to have what they deserve; and if the
Soul is for sale no Saviours can be ever be of any avail.


Some politicians will be remembered for the good they have done for Goa,
but posterity will never forgive the current bunch of ruling politicians
for their selfish role in the irreparable damage and destruction of what
was once known as beautiful Goa, the Paradise of the East.


Politics today is no longer a Mission but has become a ruthless business,
with morals and ethics twisted beyond recognition, thrown to the winds or
long buried deep in the slush of ignorance and thuggery. And if the people
of Goa are happy with all this sordid state of affairs, so be it.

between Salgaocar Football Club vs FC Bardez .  Please print this match report

*Salgaocar Football Club  face FC Bardez Goa in the season opener of
the Champions Trophy Charity Match .*
The Goa Professional League winners Salgaocar Football Club will clash with
Winners of the Goa Police Cup (knock out tournament) FC Bardez Goa in the
Champions Trophy Charity Match on August 27, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa at 4
p.m.

The Tickets for the Charity match will be priced at Rs 50 for all the
stands while the tickets for VIP stand will be priced at Rs 200.

Both the teams met in last years Goa Pro League with  Salgaocar FC having
won both the home and away games against FC Bardez Goa.
Salgaocar FC having a strong squad will come out full guns blazing
against the Pink Brigade and will try to get the win.

FC Bardez Goa is coached by Armando Colaco and Managed by Andrew Gomes. FC
Bardez Goa has made a drastic change to their squad by only retaining five
 players from 2016-17 squad.  Jessel Carneiro. Lenstan Afonso , Shubham Rao
Dessai and Kritikesh Gadekar and Jesmon Soares have  been retained.

 FC Bardez Goa has a bad record with Salgaocar having lost both the ties.
FC Bardez will be in good hopes to win the match and  get their first
victory of the season head of the AWES tournament  which is stating on

USS Pearl Harbor Arrives In Goa

While in Goa, the ship's sailors and Marines will conduct exchanges with
the Indian Navy and Indian Navy Marine Commandos relating to amphibious
warfare.

The USS Pearl Harbor was launched on February 24, 1996, and commissioned on
May 30, 1998.

PANAJI:  The amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor and the 15th
Marine Expeditionary Unit arrived in Goa for a scheduled port visit on
Thursday.

The USS Pearl Harbor is a Whidbey Island class (cargo variant) amphibious
dock landing ship with a crew of over 700 sailors and embarked Marines,
said a statement from the American Embassy in New Delhi.

While in Goa, the ship's sailors and Marines will conduct exchanges with
the Indian Navy and Indian Navy Marine Commandos relating to amphibious
warfare.

"They will also engage in community relations events and have the
opportunity to experience Indian culture," the statement said. This is the
ship's first visit to India.

"We are thrilled by the opportunity to visit India," said Commander
Theodore Essenfeld, USS Pearl Harbor's commanding officer.

"The sailors and Marines of Pearl Harbor look forward to experiencing the
culture and traditions of India while strengthening our long-standing
partnership with the Indian Navy."
