For over five years Manohar Parrikar has been keeping us entertained with
that promise to recover those Rs 35,000 crores looted in the Goa Mining scam
.


But the writing is on the wall. No one will be punished and not a paisa
will be recovered. The current very partisan probe is an exercise in
futility which will only further drain the State Exchequer and be a
criminal waste of judicial time.  Less said the better on the credentials
of that Special Investigation Team (SIT) which is geared and manipulated by
the BJP with police officers of doubtful integrity on board.


Vedanta Group-owned Sesa Goa Ltd, one of the main company indicted by
Justice MB Shah Commission in the Rs 35,000 Goa crore mining scam has been
deviously left out from being under the scanner of the SIT only because
Manohar Parrikar's side kick Atmaram Nadkarni is the legal Messiah for
Vedanta.


And that mining case registered by Manohar Parrikar himself against
Vishwajit and Pratapsingh Rane is set to be now closed after the Junior
Rane joined the BJP.


That mining plunder of Goa which accelerated from the year 2000 has been
an all party venture and loot with the Congress, BJP, NCP and MGP
having all feasted from the pie with Manohar Parrikar himself having also
been the Chief Minister of Goa from 24 October 2000 to 2nd February 2005.
And why has the SIT not sought the custodial interrogation of Manohar
Parrikar in this massive scam?

MARLAT'S STRIKE HANDS ALBERT PRINCESSES WIN OVER FLAMING ORANJE 

_Vedanta Women's Football League_ 

MAPUSA: Albert Princesses scored a narrow 1-0 win over Flaming Oranje in
the inaugural match of the Vedanta Women's Football League, in
association with Goa Football Association, played at Duler Stadium,
Mapusa, on Saturday. 

Marlat Cardozo scored the lone goal of the match in the 25th minute of
the first half. 

Albert Princesses coach Shawyn Fernandes started with State players
Marlat Cardozo, Anushka Castro, Annika Coelho, Leena Caunco and captain
Scindia Saundatikar. Flaming Orange coach Shekar Kerkar fielded Stessi
Cardozo, Karuna Kankonkar, Manjita Mathkar and Clency Miranda. 

The initial stages of the match saw both teams restricting to midfield
battle, but Albert Princesses were clear dominant in the first session.
Captain Scindia stood rock solid in the defence for the Princesses
thwarting every move initiated by the Flaming Oranje team. Scindia was
equally supported by Anushka and Leena in the midfield.  

Albert Princesses had the best chance to take the lead in the opening
quarter when Marlat rounded off the keeper with a smart move only to see
her weak short clear off the line by Stessi. Flaming Oranje were seen
struggling upfront as their strikers just couldn't get past the resolute
Albert Princesses defence.  

The second half was no different as Albert Princesses continued from
where they had left from. Marlat worked tirelessly upfront supported by
Anika, but Flaming Oranje defence led by their captain rescued their
side from more misery. 

Flaming Oranje keeper Ashika Gadekar was tested on couple of occasion
but she dealt the danger with ease. 

With Stessi surging ahead and supporting the strikers, Flaming Oranje's
attack created more opportunities but it was too late as Albert
Princesses defended to take home vital three points. 

"We are happy with the win and the way the team played tonight. They
showed a great team effort on the field. Moreover they implemented
whatever we had practiced during the training," said Albert Princesses
coach Shawyn Fernandes 

Despite a narrow 0-1 defeat, Flaming Oranje coach Shekar Kerkar said he
would take the positives from the game and try to recover for the next
match. 

"The girls gave their best. But they need to gel up well. Our strike
force needs to be more compact," Shekar said. 

Albert Princesses Scindia Saundatikar bagged the Man-of-the-Match award.

I was scandalised to read in the papers that Parrikar is propsing to
increase the salaries of MLAs (what about the MP)  --  Thanks for putting
forward your objections  --  there are a few more issues that affect each
and every Goan before the MLAs can be given any "reward"  --
-- our roads (while in fairly good condition compared to roads in other
parts of India) are still a death trap because of the totally
reckless driving mostly by two wheelers
-- lack of traffic signals  --  and more important non-enforcement of
traffic rules, when vehicles cross against "red lights", even though
 there are "Traffic Police" standing at that road junction
-- Burglaries of houses on the rise
-- Molestations and sexual assaults of ladies aged from two years upwards
on the rise --  including murders of these ladies

I am sure that there are quite a few other responsibilites which our
current MLAs can look into and make the lives of Goans better in most
respects.

Electing to bat first Panjim SC scored a total of 214 runs for 4 in 20

In reply, MLT Sanquelim managed to score only 159 in 20 over with a loss of
8 wickets.

Electing to bat first Gumteshwar SC managed to put up a tally of 123 runs

Nagappa Konur scored 24 runs of 26 balls while Paul scored 17 runs for
Gumteshwar SC.
Whereas bowling from the other end Niyananda SC's Vikrant Prabhu picked
four wickets while Gurish Naik took 2 wickets to restrict the rivals score.
In reply, Nityanada's Mahesh Rao scored 48 runs while Apali Kalangutkar

[Goanet] MOST OF THE PRESS IN GOA IS GAGGED AND CAGED

The Press, like the Judiciary, has to be free from political, government or
any other interference. In fact, it is the solemn professional duty of
every journalist to be totally independent and unbiased with no leanings
whatsoever towards any political party or politician. This holds good
equally to those in print media as well as in the electronic media. Freedom
of the press and Freedom of expression are fundamental to the very survival
of any democracy.


However, sadly today most of the journalist fraternity in Goa have become a
mouthpiece of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, patently falling prey to his
strategy of carrot and stick, to cunningly manage and manipulate a large
chunk of media.


This is nothing new for the current Chief Minister who is very intolerant
to any criticism. In fact, during his earlier tenure as Chief Minister he
had, in 2002, served a legal notice, warning the editors of all newspapers
in Goa. Not long ago he openly threatened some newspapers with stoppage of
Government advertisements, to coerce them to toe his line.


But for the social networking sites like Facebook,WhatsApp, Twitter and
some Goa related internet web sites, we would have been in the dark about
the true state of affairs in Goa. So, through his chums setting up fake
IDs, Manohar Parrikar has also started targeting the internet sites.


The threat to freedom of the press in Goa hangs like the proverbial sword
of Damocles. The current government cannot claim to respect the freedom of
the press. The press is considered to be the watchdog of democracy. Sadly,
there is scant regard for this truism in Goa, and the irony is, our country
is the world's largest democracy.


There has to be a way to ensure that the newspapers do not end up being
dependent on government advertisements. Journalists should also not fall
prey to the crumbs and largesse from Politicians and return the favours
with censored news.


Self-discipline, which is so crucial for the survival of any democracy, is
fast disappearing. Tolerance levels are declining and arrogance is
all-pervasive. More often than not, political power is used to further the
cause of the power-hungry rather than to serve the masses. The press, on
its part, should bear in mind that freedom of the press does not mean a
license to write anything that suits those in power. This freedom is
precious and it has to be used judiciously and fairly. When this freedom is
misused to keep those in power content, the public respect for this
profession is bound to diminish.


May the words of Thomas Jefferson inspire all those in that noble
journalism profession “When the press is free and every man able to read,
all is safe.”

Digamber Kamat be tried for signing the condonation of delay of mining
lease when  he had no power to sign the same. This is established in the
Shah Commission Report under “ INTENTIONAL MISUSE OF RULE 24A of the MCR,
1960 by the concerned authorities.


Mr. Raajiv Yaduvanshi is known to be a straight officer as we have had
interaction with him. Hopefully, his  recorded statements will seal the
fate of Mr. Digamber Kamat and we shall be happy to see him in jail for

FN,I am not sure if this is addressed to me but I will ASSume so.
I do not open links sent on any post - for two reasons:A) The person sending 
the link usually does not have an opinion of his own and is reduced to copy and 
pasting other peoples opinions.B) The person posting the link could have just 
as easily posted the contents of the link allowing everyone to read the same. I 
have had  the bad experience of opening a link from a trusted source which 
unfortunately contained a virus. A $400 mistrake. 
To answer your question (assuming the question mark got inadvertently 
forgotten), rest assured that there are bigger scams than gold. With gold, at 
least you are left holding a shinny metal or a piece of the pavement in heaven. 
The fraud of the day are those crypto currencies. You cannot hold a coin but 
you can trade one - until the central banks issue a directive one morning 
saying no.
Btw, one of the two madmen with nuclear weapons at his finger tips today is 
actively mining for these coins. The other, regularly covers his name brand 
with gold

COMMENTS:


Time and again this  party has demanded that the then mines minister Mr.
Digamber Kamat be tried for signing the condonation of delay of mining
lease when  he had no power to sign the same. This is established in the
Shah Commission Report under “ INTENTIONAL MISUSE OF RULE 24A of the MCR,
1960 by the concerned authorities.


Mr. Raajiv Yaduvanshi is known to be a straight officer as we have had
interaction with him. Hopefully, his  recorded statements will seal the
fate of Mr. Digamber Kamat and we shall be happy to see him in jail for
once.
