[Goanet] Scindia exits Congress to embrace BJP
Scindia exits Congress to embrace BJP MP is within the reach of BJP after reverses in Maharashtra. Jarkand, Rajashthan .BJP is repeating. its successful strategies of poachingin Goa, Karnataka as alternative options for back door entry to power BJP has become a black hole sucking powerfully the disgruntled members. MP was won with Raga promoting brigade of young leaders. They were marginalized, ignored in decision making in the state. Scindia has publicly made his intentions clear and demand for Raja Sabha seat and P.C ,C President ship was taken very lightly .The rebuff that most MLA`s were not in favour of Scindia as C.M a is another propaganda to discredit his claim Scindia was on record lambasting BJP for its hate speeches and communal divide. Now it is all in the past forgiven and forgotten by BJP. He was very close to Raga to commit Hari-kari , political suicide and it is very doubtful that privately he did not take him into confidence .Is Raga still calling the shots silently,? Scindia was poster boy of Raga , leader of GEN NEXT and his close confidant .The summer sault by Scindia which is unthinkable considering his loyalty to congress for 18 years. That the move was made to coincide on his father’s birth anniversary is significant and also being touted as homecoming by his family and right decision for his political future. Milind Deora in Maharshtra ,Sachin Pilot in Rajasthan are the next to be watched closely , whether they would follow Joyti Rao Scindia ? .Scindia now is reposing his trust in leadership of Modi and BJP vision is convenience of action justified, as he jumps ship .,He did not opt to from a separate outfit, and wants to just move onin justification , bHe has succumbed to the soft course. The resignation of 22 members including 6 Ministers a serious jolt to Congress in sympathy with Scindia and it`s not a mere pressurizing syndrome, as it is made out to be. There is no doubt that lure for power, position , political career is most attractive glue and there is nothing wrong in seeking self prospects and MOVING ONE..Everyone sees greener pastures after Congress has been in the desert for 6 years and many Congressmen are feeling unemployed. Digvijay Singh is at the centre of the storm in M.P but will be held accountable? .The leadership issue in Congress is at the helm of the crisis. There is inevitable struggle between the young brigade and old guard for survival. And exert their authority, The factionalism is very strong and there is no mechanism to contain it. Obsesses ion with Gandhi family is the root cause of lack of leadership in Cogress. Raga as President had frustrating experience to carry on reforms and was systematically strangulated by seniors. After he resigned accepting his failure, the old guard brought back Sonia as interim President, negating sharing of power. I n stead of refusing the offer of compromise to save the party Sonia swallowed the bait to be interim President .Congress party of the day is technically the personal party of Indira Gandhi and it is likely they would not leave its hold on it. There is no strong leadership. ,Leader is isolated, stonewalled and communications is impossible for days and months together. Sonia is also accused for her love for her son and every psycho pants obliged her with her avowed intentions. Congress is yet to come to grips with organizations and leadership for over an extended period now. Unless the central leadership is able to resolve conflict immediately without allowing to fester the wound of discontent The Congress has definitely lost a young, dynamic articulate ,loyal leader without addressing his genuine concerns .Going by the facts, it looks like that India is moving towards Congress mukth India as advocated by BJP. It is the only all India party, the Congress that is the thorn in BJP flesh as all efforts are directed to criticize Congress, decimate its prestige, day in and day out by laying all ills present and past at the doors of Congress. BJP is advocating open door policy , rationalizing poaching by incentives, power and that all such practices are fair in politics. The swift move to expel Scindia is knee jerk reaction of no consequence in the situation, after the Leadership made no attempts to assuage his feelings of hurt For a brief period the leadership of Congress was held by non Gandhi family but obsession is for Loyalty towards first family. and nominations instead of elections from grass root level is familiar plot. These problems of organizations and leadership are germane to all political parties .On one side we have first family and other side one and half men party. The law on defections has not countered the ,malaise of defections and in fact the defectors are re elected by the very same voters, thereby legitimizing such moves No other democratic Nations has this unique system of defections *Simply speaking ,all defectors including
[Goanet] ROAD ACCIDENTS IN GOA ON A STEEP RISE
The increasing number of fatal road accidents that Goa has been witnessing is a matter of great concern. The death of those three young bright boys at Verna on Sunday was so very tragic and extremely anguishing. May their departed souls rest in eternal peace and their family members garner the strength to bear the loss of these little jewels they so suddenly lost. Our young children must never be given access to even a two wheeler let alone a four wheeler to ensure such a horrific accident never repeats itself. The thrust of the government should be in urgently tackling the causes of the increasing number of road accidents. The roads across Goa are in an extremely pathetic and very critical state. Poor road engineering is a cause of many accidents. There also needs to be a total crackdown on drunken driving and reckless over speeding. Vigilance by the traffic authorities around the schools and colleges must be enhanced to stop the unlicensed and rash riders. Cattle squatting on our highways besides the dogs and pigs crossing our roads are also a cause of many accidents, some being fatal. May be its high time that our traffic officials who currently have the expertise in only challening people for minor traffic violations, are now professionally trained on all aspects of proper traffic management and road safety. Road safety is of paramount importance. Government’s first duty and highest obligation is public safety. Safety does not happen by accident. It is the solemn duty of everyone to take their own safety and the safety of others seriously. Goa is now known as a gambling, prostitution, drug and crime haven. Let our concerted efforts be to save it from being an accident destination too. [Goanet] Tensing Rodrigues's Konkanapurana
https://www.academia.edu/42185578 Tensing Rodrigues has for quite a long time been publishing a series of articles in the Navhind Times called Konkanapurana. This is quite a detailed exposition on how Goa got populated from the earliest times. He uses a vast variety of sources to buttress his arguments. It appears that this series of articles will end up as a book, but even if for some reason this doesn't happen, the Konkanakhyan articles, although inconvenient to consult, will provide a good overview of the historical and geographical developments that resulted in the Goa of today. The latest article is called 'Peopling the Komkan Coast' (see the link above) whereas last week the controversial Parshuram was in the limelight. Tensing's writing can at times be a bit dense and difficult to read, sometimes because of the unfamiliarity of the subject to a lay reader; sometimes for trying to pack in too much information into individual sentences; and sometimes for silly reasons - for eg, in the latest article I took more than 10 minutes to realise that AMH meant 'anatomically modern humans' because he hadn't bothered to place the acronym AMH after the term when it first appeared. However for those interested in this area of study I'd highly recommend the Konkanapurana articles. Best, Augusto

[Goanet] Fw: UPHOLDING THE LAW
GOVERNMENT A LAW UNTO THEMSELVES? It is reported that the Allahabad HC has asked the Yogi goverment of UP to immediately remove the hoardings put up with photos and address of anti CAA protestors to name and shame them. They were all arrested and all granted bail due absolutely no proof of crime. The DM and police were asked under what law these actions were carried out! Not only do unauthorised photos taken/published without permission are against privacy laws, but mentionning addresses puts them and families lives in danger! Further these are not lumpen elements but peaceful unarmed protestors of all types including ladies and former IPS officer etc. No punishment for order reportedly issued by Yogi Aditnath and the intended damage to arrested protestors already achieved! Wither justice? The Advocate General termed the act as deterrent. A judge hearing the 2002 riot case involving BJP minister Maya Kodani is transferred by the Gujarat HC when hearing final arguments. A new judge may have to hear final arguments afresh! Reportedly a total of 82 people are facing trial in the 2002 Naroda Gam killing case and this is the year 2020! A strong prejudiced government is strongarming its own people it appears, by trying to strike fear and terror outside Constitutional law.

[Goanet] VILLAGE REPORT - MAYEM
-- Samir Umarye Famous for: Mayem lake Bungy jump Bungy Jumping is the activity only available in Goa after Rishkesh. The bungy jump at Mayem is 55 meters in height and is open for person above 12 years of age. Works which needs to be undertaken: New panchayat building Mining issue and Farmer’s compensation Resolve custodian issue BICHOLIM: The famous lines ‘ya ya Mayem ya’ has enthralled many hearts and lingers still today even as this small village is struggling to restore its former glory. Mayem panchayat has several issues including custodian property, mining and the recent one of illegal bars. The panchayat with 11 wards is always in news and most of the gram sabhas are always stormy. Close to Bicholim the panchayat shares its boundaries with the city. The issue of custodian property has always been in four front and the resident feel that they are still to get their freedom and ownership of land. The issue dates back from 1816, when the colonial rulers confiscated virtually the entire village admeasuring 3,773 hectares from the Mayem Communidade. The BJP government was able to resolve this issue to some extent but the villagers, especially the Mayem Bhoo Vimochan Nagrik Kruti Samiti fighting for the rights of the locals is not totally satisfied. The sanads of their land was given to some few villagers but there are many who are still left out. “The process of giving sanads is going on at a very slow pace we demand with the government to speed it up so that the villagers get their rights” president of MBVNKS, Chandrakant Pednekar told. The villagers are not only confronted with custodian issue but there are issues of mining pollution with the local farmers being affected with the silt being deposited in their fields. The farmers have been crying foul over this and have time and again demanded for compensation. They have gone from pillar to post to meet their demands and have also threatened to halt the recent transportation of auctioned ore through the village. “There is a circular issued by the central government that clearly states that any road that goes through the village should not be used for mining ore transportation. We will oppose the move till our demands are met” farmer Sakharam Pedenkar told. It is not just the farms that are damaged because of mining but also several of the lakes are affected due to the silt. The villagers have time and again reported the matter to the authorities and the mining company but no action was initiated. If these issue have been making rounds since several years and the village has still not found any proper solution to it there are some recent issues where the villagers have taken a firm stand. The villagers claim that in this small village there are more than 60 bars and they do not require any more bars in the village. Kamlakant Tari who is always in the fore front in opposing the bars told that since 2003 there has been no NOCs given to any bars in the village because of strong opposition from the villagers. “We have a population of about 12000 and there are 60 bars and now majority of the villagers do not want any more bars. We strongly demand that even some of the illegal bars should be closed down” Tari told. The issue of bars have rocked several gram sabhas and the villagers, especially the women were seen strongly opposing the move to give new licenses to bars. Recently there was a plan to issue license to a person with orders from seniors from panchayat department and alert villagers had strongly opposed the move. “We want to ask the government whether they are trying to instigate the villagers by issuing such orders through higher authorities. Gram sabha is against issuing of NOCs to any more bars and if any such order is issued in the future the government will have to face the consequences” Tari stated. Those who oppose bars claim that because of bars there are many youths and families who have suffered. “There are many widows in the village because of this vice and we do not want any more bars in the village” another villagers, Sakharam Pedenkar told. The village is famous for its lake and the government has already invested several lakhs in renovating the area but the local shopkeepers feel that they were totally sidelined. “We had demanded with the tourism department to given us kiosks outside the gate of the lake but inspite of assurance nothing happened” a shopkeeper, Karbotkar told. The Mayem village is now slowly making its presence felt and thanks to the newly inaugurated bunggy jump which has attracted several adventure lovers. As per the bunggy jump founder they have already operated 600 jumps. “We have operated over 600 jumps in Goa with about 10 percent of our jumpers being local Goans” claims the founder of the jumpin Heights, Rahul Nigam adding “we have just begun our operation in the state and it takes time for the word to spread so we expect more tourists in the near future” It may be stated that

[Goanet] END OF THE ROAD FOR PANAJI
With the next Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) elections scheduled for March 2021 this is the last year of the current Corporators. At the last 2016 CCP elections in the manifesto of the Panaji City Corporation Development Front the now Panaji MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate had said‘I know your problems. I have the solutions. I have the ability to deliver’. But sadly Panaji has gone from bad to worse on all fronts with the CCP embroiled in rampant corruption and gross nepotism. Merit and competence has not been the criteria in selecting the Mayor as Babush Monseratte conveniently opts for his Yes-man. More problems created than solved. No solutions delivered. With the very controversial Uday Madkaikar taking over as the Mayor last year an already beleaguered CCP, has only landed up in further dire straits. Babush Monseratte has reportedly decided to keep Uday Madkaikar in the Chair for another year on March 12th despite there being very competent and unblemished Corporators like Rahul Lotlikar. It is known to all that Uday Madkaikar was the mastermind of that infamous Panaji Market multi-crore scam and other illegalities that has over the years rocked the CCP.It is intriguing that late Manohar Parrikar who as Leader of Opposition had rightly raised a ruckus over that documented Panaji Market scam, after becoming Chief Minister however conveniently for political expediency choseto sleep over the issue. It is anguishing that in a display of political bankruptcy the CCP Corporators have failed to select the best and brightest amongst them to steer the City. What an eyesore!
