Chairman of Gulf Goans Hotels Mr. Francis J. Fernandes presenting GWS 
Scholarship Award to Ms. Leanne Merle Moniz

At  glittering function at Hotel Delmon in Panaji, Goan Welfare Society-Kuwait 
honoured Ms. Neha da Rocha and Leanne Merle Moniz for their outstanding 
performance at the March 2010 SSC examination conducted by the Goa Board of 
Secondary & Higher Sec. Education.
 
Ms. Neha da Rocha a student passed out through Dona Leonor Memorial High 
School, Porvorim who secured 95.16% marks and Ms. Leanne Merle Moniz from Our 
Lady of Carmel High School, Curtorim who secured 91.66% were presented 
Scholarship awards instituted by Patron member of GWS Mr. Sam Alphonso at the 
hands of Mr. Francis J. Fernandes, Chairman and Managing Director of Gulf Goans 
Hotels Co. Ltd.(Hotel Goan Heritage) in the presence of Mr. Alex Wilson Coelho, 
Honorary President of GWS, members of the Board and shareholders of Gulf Goans 
Hotels Co. Ltd.
 
Goan Welfare Society is an Organization which caters to the cultural, health, 
financial educational and other needs of Goans not only in Kuwait but also in 
Goa. Honouring students from Goa who excel at the SSC examination has been an 
annual feature of the Society from 1995 inorder to encourage students to 
perform better in their higher studies.
 
Earlier Mr. Alex Wilson Coelho welcomed the distinguished gathering which 
mainly comprised of the Board Members and shareholders of Gulf Goans Hotels Co. 
Ltd, parents and students. Mr. Antonio Quadros, Block Resource Person from Goa 
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and former A.D.E.I of Salcete conducted the proceedings 
of the programme. Ms. Neha da Rocha thanked the organizers and assured them of 
better performance in her higher studies.

Indian Schools in Kuwait during the academic year 2009 -2010, will be awarded 
to three students who secure the highest aggregate marks in Standard XII, one 
in each stream – Science (PCB), Science (PCM) and Commerce, at the examinations 
conducted by the CBSE Board in March 2010.
 
A part from, another two awards will be awarded to students of Standard X who 
secure the highest and second highest aggregate marks at the examination 
conducted by the CBSE Board in March 2010.
 
The GWS awards are donated by Mr.  & Mrs. Sam Alphonso – Patron member of the 
Goan Welfare Society.
 
Only Students of Goan origins are eligible to apply for the awards under each 
of the said five categories. All those who qualify for the awards are requested 
to submit their application along with photocopies of marks sheet certified by 
their school authorities, copies of their passport, copies of their birth 
certificate and that of their parents, in proof of their origin addressed to 
Alex Wilson Coelho, President of Goan Welfare Society, P.O.Box 1335 Safat 13014 
– Kuwait within two weeks from the date of declaration of the CBSE results 
2010. The application may be sent by post or hand delivered to any of the new
